  • Cycling gloves...

  • Have those hands ever done a day’s manual work in their life?

    #softasababysbum

  • Savage! I got furloughed yesterday which seems to have liberated me as I couldn’t really work from home so was pretty anxious. I ended up grafting on the garden all day which I should have done weeks ago, turns out it’s a serious work out so having a day off!

  • Also couldn’t resist a beer after gardening in the sun all day, 100 burpees and 5km run tomorrow.

  • How dare you. I've done many days of decorating.

  • 100 burpees done 15 x 6 + 10, 30s rest, total time 7:58
    Plus 1:30 hilly bike ride.

    Tired now

  • Went for 30min skipping one the park followed by an x push up based chest workout. Now sore and hungry!

  • That is seriously rapid, I’ll try and do a best time 100 some time this week, I will be pleased If I’m under 11 minutes.

  • Quite pleased, though sweating like I’d just done a spinning class in a sauna afterwards.

Was testing whether I could do 15 rep sets with 30s rest, though I’d manage 4, savaged myself through 2 more and a relief to only have 10 left for the last set.

If I work up to 5 sets of 20 with 30s rest, should be 7 minutes.

  • Started TR workout. Didn't even complete the warmup I was so not into it. Smashed some beer while moaning about turbo training on twitter and then, feeling happy, for some reason, decided to enter a race that was starting in 2min. Lost badly although I did set Zwift 5min and 20min power PBs (easy when it's your first race) and I did finish which tipped me over the 1000k mark for TGBR. Basically, drink beer and you feel better and can get shit done.

These are good. Different lengths and lots of prompts. Also has an RPE scale so no need for sensors or powermeters, just judge your own effort.

  • Go outside dude. Its perfect weather.

  • Yeah, I know. I have been sitting out in the deckchair getting a tan drunk most days :)

But I feel like enjoying myself for fundraising isn't right. Riding inside is my feeble gesture of solidarity with everyone else stuck at home.

  • Thank you, these look like what she wants. Ill pass the link along.

  • Time to add burpees to the plan (standard ones, not crossfit ones, already doing 100 pushup programme). Will do them on the days I'm not doing leg blasters / pushups / a run.

  • Basically, drink beer and you feel better and can get shit done.

I used to know a guy, who was competing in weightlifting drunk, he said booze makes it easier to get in the mood. He even squatted a national record drunk, then on another day he'd had too much and tried to clean instead of deadlift or something. Might work on a stationary bike too?

  • I've ran close to 140km since getting back to the UK on the 24th of March - having only done two runs/jogs in the previous six months. Settled down to doing a 10k every other day with kettlebell or body weight work outs on the other days.

The surprising benefit is having a routine, not really had one before - it's nice getting up & going for a run then feeling set-up for the rest of the day!

  • I mean, it's definitely a psychoactive/mood altering substance. I'm not sure I'd want to make even more of a habit of it though! :D

It might work on the turbo but flying down a mountain off my face is probably going to be a rapid path to ruin :)

  • 100 burpees, 7:24 today.
15x5 + 25. Felt okish on the 6th set of 15 so carried on.

Had to drape myself over a garden chair for 5 minutes to cool down after.

Probably stay on this set profile for a couple of days before aiming to move to sets of 20.

  • We restarted the pushups so W2D2 just done now after I bailed on my TR session half way.
Will hit TR again tonight. At least it was physical fatigue rather than mental meh-ness.

  • Are you sure it wasn't beer induced fatigue?

  • Nah, I only had 3 cans and two of those were probably sweated out on the turbo. I think it's much more likely a case of the watts used in the Zwift race. The only time in the last 10 years I'd see >450W on my PM is a badly paced 10mi TT where I have the energy for a finish 'sprint' or the 1000W spikes when dogs would suddenly appear in Kentucky (TABR) or Romania (TCR).

I have a sore lower back and that's almost certainly from the Zwift race. I get the same kind of dull ache when wrestling too high a gear up steeper climbs.
