question; my parents are visiting us from India (Amber list). They will follow everything stated in the rules; 48h pre travel PCR, then day 2 and day 8 PCR and overall 10 days qurantine.
They are both double jabbed (AZ) but its a vaccine that UK doesent recognise. Me and my partner are double jabbed (Pfizer and AZ) which under the rules say 'dont have to quarantine if you are double jabbed within UK/EU'.
We have a toddler who goes to nursery.
Am I right in thinking that in this situation ALL of us have to quarantine for 10 days and take kid off nursery?

When do they arrive? Rules change Monday?
-
• #23230
oh they have just applied for a visa, I'd say mid sept or something
-
• #23231
In that case, it migh be a but different -who knows?
Rules might change again. -

Also by then the NHS might be recognising overseas vaccines.

fair enough, I will ask closer to time :)
double jabbed in uk and children (ours is under 2) dont have to quarantine .. is that right for time being?
My actual worry is India going back on red; there is nothing to back this worry like numbers in india going up or anything

I don’t think you’ll have to isolate while your family quarantines although it’s remarkably hard to find a proper answer to this on the government website. As you’ll be double vaccinated you’d presumably be allowed out even if they tested positive (provided you had a negative PCR and were symptom free) so seems unlikely that you’d need to isolate while they undergo their quarantine period

Rules for the people you’re staying with
The people you’re staying with do not need to quarantine, unless:- they travelled with you
- you or someone in the place where you’re staying develop symptoms of COVID-19
- you get a positive test result for your day 2 or day 8 test
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-quarantine-when-you-arrive-in-england#how-to-quarantine
When I came back to visit my family in U.K. I quarantined at my parents and they did not have to quarantine as well.
- they travelled with you

Given the mercurial nature of Government policy, pretty much anything is possible by then. Especially if a Government minister has said they're not going to do it. Then it's pretty much a nailed-on certainty.

any ideas on how to drive uptake in the 20 -39 population
Certainly not with Uber and Deliveroo bribes if the conversations I had with the youngsters in our family a couple of weeks ago are anything to go by. They feel like they’re being coerced.
It’s funny, they’ve worried about catching the virus or passing it to their parents or grandparents but they also believe a lot of the anti vax stuff. None of them trust the BBC and they get all their information off the net / their phones. I’ve got no idea what the answer is.

Free garys that contain the vaccine.

Yep. This confirms what we're working with....

So, am asking for a friend. If you have had a positive PCR test, even tho you are double vaccinated when can you retest again? There is mention of not advisable for 90 days.
Long version, friend took PCR test to travel and got a positive result. Re tested with another PCR and that came back negative. Seeing as the friend is double vaccinated looks like a false positive PCR. Friend has isolated for 10 days and taken LF tests that came back negative.
Friend needs ish to travel hence the PCR test.

40-59 and 60+ groups are the ones on the rise now. Earlier vaccinations starting to wear off?

I suspect not, more likely higher percentage becoming exposed to virus from younger age groups.
Just a percentage game would be my gut. -

Yes. Seems to have started working in the last 48hrs…. Since the restaurants legally had to start scanning.
Super simple to scan your QR code from the NHS onto the app.
If you have an iPhone, you can then just create a widget of the QR for your home screen

PCR test taken yesterday has come back positive :(
Guess it was inevitable after isolating with my partner who tested positive on the 12th and has had it pretty rough since. I feel fine at the moment, hopefully sleeping in separate rooms, keeping our distance and getting loads of air through the flat has helped keep the viral load low and I won't get it too bad.
Sucks donkey balls having to stay inside until 26th August now.

Just got pinged this morning with 7 days isolation.
checked rules; need to take test before going back to work for double vaccainted.
-
• #23248
I've been able to book PCR tests at a drive-through centre near me with just a couple of hours notice and result back next day, so hopefully shouldn't be too disruptive.
-
• #23249
Fortunately there's a drive thru one in Lewisham (Catford) that just down the road but annoyingly have to ask g/f to drive me.

You don't need to self-isolate if you are double vaccinated and get pinged by the app. You are advised to take a PCR test but there is no compulsion.
From 16 August 2021, if you come into close contact of someone with
COVID-19, you will no longer need to self-isolate if you are ... fully
vaccinated and it has been two weeks since your final dose of an
MHRA-approved vaccine in the UK vaccination programme.
Thanks. I’m gutted that I can’t be there but im just grateful that nobody (so far) has been too badly hit with it and fingers crossed that there aren’t any signs of further onward transmission
