EU wants UK to send them vaccines which it currently doesn't want to use.
To be honest, I think, pragmatically, the UK should be sending vaccines to RoI. But I also think Von der Leyen can get fucked.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Pfizer vaccines rely on components produced and exported from the UK. But I may be wrong/this may have changed.

If some batches of vaccines in the UK are supposed to go to the EU, we are back to the "what actually was in the contract" discussion... that was "fun"...
My parents in Netherlands sure would like vaccines, the skepticism does vary per country. No stupid remarks by politicians were made there, same for ROI, so its not as simple as "all EU countries don't want use them".

If I'm not mistaken, both the Netherlands and Ireland have suspended use of the AZ vaccine.
Having said that, other EU countries have not, so you're right to say that it's not all countries. But it's nonetheless surprising to see the EU commission return to this issue generally, and at this moment specifically.

Unless it's just a deflection tactic, in which case it's timed perfectly.

I'm not a fan of Van Der Leyen for other reasons but this is the sort of theatre I expect. Matt Hancock's reply is the counter performance.
Maybe something I missed but the EU commission probably still has the shortage fallout to deal with? That won't just go away.
You are correct Ireland suspended it, Netherlands government page says they are waiting on EMA advice, who just cleared it, ROI should also hopefully use it again soon.
What a mess in any case, it's all so depressing. We all need to get vaccinated. No country was ever isolated (see Spanish flu) so hopefully it gets sorted asap.
I'll definitely be all on Facebook once I get my jab, can't post it to my parents unfortunately ;)

Yeah. No idea how to work out what UVDL is doing. Germans - from what I can tell - generally seem to think she's incompetent and only moved into the commission presidency so she wouldn't be causing problems domestically.

I didn't follow it, but I've overheard that her ministerial career was pretty undistinguished. I was surprised when she was picked for this job.

Does the UK get stuff from the EU to make any uk made vaccine?
Seems that the UK was is drawn in to a contractual dispute with a company that is part UK owned and the EU.

He was not supposed to talk about this, just this "aria" tech group idea.
Assholes gonna asshole.

An acquaintance of a mate if mine said her parents got really ill after vaccination, both in their 80s
But she said they had no idea where to report neither had hospital staff, I thought if true that's a serious training oversight.
It might be a serious training oversight, but it could be rectified by suggesting they read the patient information leaflet.
At least for AZ, this suggests (to the patient) that they talk to their doctor, pharmacist or nurse, or report it directly via https://coronavirus-yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/, or use the MHRA Yellow Card app.

Aren't the clots all associated with a single batch?
No, there's absolutely zero evidence of that AFAIK and I'd be very surprised if C4 reported that.
No comment on the truth of the asserted association, but I've certainly seen a number of reports of it. I've also seen reports of an Italian prosecutor or judge who ordered administration of a particular batch (c400k doses) to be suspended.

I told the daughter about the yellow card scheme when she told the story.
Not sure she passed it on or filled it out.

I take that with a big fat 20kg bag of salt as prosecutors can become media stars and get better roles and or promotion with lies or basing the case on some sort of woo. See monster of florence and the kercher murder as two prime examples.

Not enough thoughts and prayers. We are all to blame.

Or we didn't send enough kitten pics.

Or we haven't lynched enough homosexuals. They're usually to blame in these instances

May be more in it than is being reported...

How are the people getting the vaccines, the UK is well ahead of most countries and we haven't got to healthy under 50's yet. The report says "13 patients, all between ages 20 and 50 and previously healthy", which doesn't seem right. Edit, could be medical staff I guess
-
• #21523
They're probably health workers of other groups who have been prioritized.
Oops, missed your edit.
