You can see why they might be pissed off.
Gyms are allowed to stay open in the Lancashire Tier 3 lockdown but not the Merseyside one.

Carnage.

Yep. Lock the fucking country down. Suck up the cost, knowing that it will be a lower economic impact than all this bloody prevarication.
Sadly our PM has not the balls nor the cabinet to do this.

Businesses closing for an undefined period of time without sufficient financial support will destroy many. It’s so blindingly obvious, they just don’t give a shit about us.

Looking at Tiers 2; it similar to the previous lockdown but with a bit more leeway,
Couldn’t the whole country be Tiers 2?

My daughter's year at school has been closed, due to a student TA that has tested positive.
She only did a couple of days in the year group, with the 8th October being her last day.
School have told parents that Year 5 kids have to isolate to the 26th October, 10 days since the TA's positive test on the 15th. Even though her last day in school was the 8th.
School are maintaining that this is correct because that is what PHE told them to do. Even though a) it is bonkers and b) it contradicts the explicit guidance on the government web page that describes how this stuff should work which states that it should be 14 days from the date of last contact, i.e. the 23rd.
So now the parents are talking about a "common sense" approach - deciding themselves how long to isolate for.
Total bloody shambles.

So Andy Burham, Labour Greater Manchester Mayor, wants more money to protect the companies and people. This is holding the govt over a barrel, according to govt but I see it as looking after the population.
-

The government is also being held over a barrel by the EU. Even TfL aren't agreeing to the demands of Mr Johnson (extend the congestion charge zone to the NCR and SCR apparently). Mr Johnson and friends don't seem especially good at reaching agreements.

omg ‘be like the queen (ledge, old photo?) don’t wear a mask’ ??!?!?!?
-
• #16837
Er, to argue with you - They (EU) are not giving us (UK) deal we want.
Not the right thread for this ;).
Where is the extension of charge zone happening being mentioned? As the zone hours were increased for the last bail out.

Neighbour forwarded me this: https://www.fromthemurkydepths.co.uk/2020/10/15/government-orders-congestion-charge-to-be-expanded-to-woolwich-and-south-circular2/

Looks like these Tier 3 lockdowns are going to be different for each area. No soft play in Lancashire but allowed in Liverpool.

Divided and concur once again and put the blame on the people for the shambles we are in.
Dominic effing off to barnyard castle was a catalyst for no control. -

Seems to be in a negotiation between TfL/London Mayor and the government (DfT?). TfL are broke because they have little fares income so need cash or to stop running the tube. Reporting is via Tom Edwards who is quoting Heidi Alexander.

Just got a letter to do antibody testing. Will be very interesting as think I had a mild case early march when the missus definitely had it (still anosmic 6 months later).

Thank you.
@jellybaby Thank you.
By the way I wasn't questioning that the tories would do that, wanted to point right wingers to the proof.

boris can't even get his divide and conquer policy to work, he's so shit he's managed to unite the whole of the north against him
could boris be like the 2012 olympics and bring the whole country together, against him and his shitty cabinet
-
• #16845
He has somehow managed to unite people from across the entire political spectrum against him, it’s amazing.
-

Most research so far seems to indicate that the antibodies last 2-3 months so I wouldn't expect much this far on.

Rumours that Wales will be going into full circuit-breaker lockdown from 23rd to 9th.
-
• #16848
I don't believe that'll work unless you can either get the world to do it at the same time or stop all over boarder movement.
(controllable boarders which Wales doesn't have)

• #16849
Oh. Booo then.
Still - in it for the greater good etc. -

My wife and I had suspected Covid around March - isolated for 3 weeks in the end.
Fast forward to now, had a random overnight fever, sweating absolute buckets all night and I woke up with an aching hip. Aching hip was one of the noticeable symptoms from first time round as it came out of nowhere (had other symptoms at the time, fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath etc). So I went and got a test today as we elected to cancel plans and then I realised that if I'm worried enough to cancel plans I might as well get a test.
Hoping it was just a random fever and I'm just being overly cautious. It's a funny position to be in. I definitely hope I don't have it, but if it is positive, it justifies being overly cautious or worried about it.
There's no real point to this, other than wanting to complain.

Ok ta.
