@hippy going very well by the looks of things, currently in 6th and almost at CP2. Lachlan Morton seems to be having an incredible ride and has got at least 80k or the next nearest rider.

@skinny has just posted on Instagram that he’s withdrawn if anyone is wondering. He hadn’t recovered from his exploits at the Further race.

Is @skinny ok?

He’s knackered I think. Six weeks off due to injury, then a few weeks to prepare for Further, then just two weeks to recover for this.

He must have gone really deep in Further, even though it was 'only' 48 hours. Rest up, skinny.

I went pretty deep at further and the issue is I dont have the training g base having been off. These races ain't easy and there is a high physical and mental price. To finish this would mean 6 weeks off tbe bike at least and perhaps more, I didnt want to pay that.

Ps I saw hippy on the road and he was in good spirits. Doing a great ride

I think he did 600km of the gbduro without sleep and that was unplanned. Probably had some practice at it since then.

Here he is passing through Cádiar, a small town a few of us forummers have based ourselves for some mountain fun in the past.

Putting that "with no real stop" into numbers, after 618km:

Apparently 2nd place Hayden McCormick has never been bikepacking before and his longest ride up to now has been 9 hours. Not bad..

His seatpost also has broken. and its currently being held together by cellotape.

Yeah I wish people would realise the tracker doesnt capture short stops, the numbers are worthless. Plus tbe trackers they are using are phone signal based, not satellite so not as good either. Personally I dont think they should be used. His stopped time will be at least 2h.
