I'd be up for something like this, just got a new MTB myself.
Will be taking it for a shakedown around Guildford this Sunday too, weather permitting.

Looks great. Found myself free last minute and with a ticket for NLD, but think I might actually have enjoyed this more.

I've somehow booked myself into a festival for the weekend, as part of the entertainment no less!

"Oh, didn't realise you'd be gone all day, I thought you was just going for a bike ride" is the response I got this evening when I laid out my plans. Apparently I'm needed so now need to stay relatively close to home with an early start.
I've knocked up a 60km off road loop around Hertfordshire. Could start the loop from where the Stort flows into the Lee at the southerly point - easy ride up to there from Hackney Marshes. I intend a quick swim at Glen Faba at the end, too. Let me know if you're still interested, will Brighton another day though!

Last weekend looks brilliant @Alex_B!
Going somewhere on Saturday if anyone wants to join, weather currently forecast as top notch. Might do a rerun of last summer’s ride and swim with Alex, @Zebra_Cyclist & @SteadyCam to Frensham Pond, which was great.

I'll be at Brother in the Wild, otherwise I'd love to join you.
Can you scout out a decent return route? Also, let me know if that pop up bar is still there as I'm planning to do this ride again some time.Last week's route was amazing and needs to be repeated. I was too busy enjoying it to take loads of pictures, but it has some cracking sections and hardly any roads.

That might be a little challenging me to get to early enough for you, trains depending. I'm in SE11, but will take a look at the trains regardless!

Going to do this on Sunday I think.
Edit: this is meant to be a RideithGPS route but it's not showing?

too busy enjoying it to take loads of pictures
This is literally every ride for me

Waterloo - Dorking. Ride to Frensham. Back from Farnham. Time not a massive problem for me, let me know what works if Saturday is good for you.
I have the route in my OS app. Can link if you need. Can’t remember who’s route it is and where they mapped it tbh.
@Alex_B I probably won’t want to ride back. Will report on the bar situation.

I mapped out the original route using cycle.travel, you can see it here: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/306932
Have fun!

I can only do Sunday but even that's not confirmed yet. Does this embed work?
-
• #664
argh, DEFINITELY want to do this Frensham ride, at some point this year. But this weekend is impossible: Hope it’s a good one!
edit got me lookers on not my see-ers. Basically, if this ain’t the Frensham paddle, it still looks a good one. I’m relocating south in a couple of months, so will be approaching Surrey, Sussex and Kent from the south coast for a year.
-
• #665
Yes.
The route I’m intending to use is from Dorking, only one way, then up to Farnham and train back.
OK I’m a bit iffy tomorrow so Sunday might work for me tbc -
• #666
Gotcha, just seen the Frensham Ponds GPX above. Will keep you posted about my availability!
-
• #667
Sorry to mess you around - can't make it after all.

• #668
Hey I went quiet too. Have tweaked a calf muscle, cycling loads of records around this weekend, and weather’s a bit meh, I stayed in bed

Oh jeez @TheBonk heal up wee fella! Have you considered getting a highly paid position? #torysolutions

Is the Hertfordshire loop plan still a plan? Can you post the Komoot route pliz?
-
• #672
Yep, still got the ride token from Mrs Y. But today I've managed to leave my stem bag on a tow path after flipping my bike over to check it and seems I've got a kinked chain and a locked link which is slipping - maybe its salvageable.
I've been doing a few bits closer to home - so far I've ridden into a Hawthorn tree and been stung by the strongest stinging nettles known to man - it'll be great 👍 just hope you like looking across fields.
I'll work out how to share the komoot, sure its simple but I'm currently drinking my day away. -
• #673
Okay. Well, I’m 50:50 on that because there’s a lot going on in my life and my time is not my own, but a noodle around Bedfordshire’s inferior neighbour would be grand : )
Enjoy your drink and I hope you sort your ehhh locked link liplock kink thing. -

Moving to the south coast on Sunday, so WHILE MY TIME IS STILL NOT MY OWN, I'm pondering a return to that interrupted Shoreham loop next. I'm t00bless'd up, so nothing can go wrong now. erk.
Edit: likely I'll be doing weekdays for rides because I have to get rid of annual leave days to the end of the year.

@vilms5000 I rode it again last weekend. The conditions are perfect. Can recommend the Black Cat in Arundel for food. The Taphouse in Shoreham also served an excellent post ride beer.
Would anyone be up for a traffic free ride Friday 3rd June? (Queenie's jubbly party)
Thinking maybe the offroad ride to Brighton if that's any good? Would be all new to me anyway, I've only had an mtb all of 1 week so just itching to get out. Easy / Social pace & weather depending.
Happy for other destination suggestions or maybe bumping to the Thursday instead. I'd be leaving from Hertford via River Lea.
