Oh I rarely finish bike projects either. However I’m not paying £3k/month on rent n rates to fuck around all day…
From what I can see he turns up 2-3x per week around 9-10am, gets stoned, breaks something, comes up with the next big idea, convinces some mugs to invest knowing full well he’ll be bored of that idea in a week, buys another classic car he’ll never restore, complains about not being able to sell his flat in Victoria Park then drive home using autopilot because he’s probably still too baked to trust driving himself.

All while coming into our workshop 5-10x a day to pinch tobacco off my colleague which he’ll never reciprocate.
On a couple of occasions he’s tried to hire an assistant, never seen anyone last more than a day before telling him to do one.

He’s basically a really budget version of musk actually, at least he’s not a racist.

Yeah, hope so. I think they're a pair of basic swindlers but the supporting cast seems to take the authoritarian bit more seriously. Trump only ran to stay out of jail. I imagine with some of the shit they'll get up to this term, (Elon included) there will be an even more powerful motive to put the finger on the scales of the next election. Musk is Trump's conduit to monetizing billions out of Truth Social, still think it's likely there will be some sort of X / Truth / Tiktok tie up, that's going to take a while though.

Musk is a billionaire who controls Twitter. That's why he's around. If he takes too much limelight or outlives his usefulness he'll be gone.

You'd hope so, but this may be optimistic. We're going to get unrestrained Trump now that the Republicans own congress, and he may have a lot of room for the lunatics he's gathered arond him to go fully mental. Even if he does fall out with Musk and wave him goodbye, there are more MAGA hats on Twitter than Truth Social and Musk will have their attention.

There's only ever room for one megalomaniac in a relationship. I doubt the the Trump x Musk brand will last long. It's going to be an impressive fallout when it goes.

He has lots of liquid assets (probably billions of USD), but not enough to cover the entire Twitter purchase, so if Tesla crashed, and other things fell a certain way (e.g. he wasn't bailed out by someone else or wasn't able to borrow against other not-so-liquid assets), it could theoretically bankrupt him.

Rich people have the luxury of not having to buy things with their own money. The richer you are the more access to credit you have and so the more you can buy with other people's money.

The cash he has mainly comes from the sale of Tesla shares. He has sold around $25Bn of them in the last couple of years.

Space-X and particularly Starlink are worth an absolute fuckton. Tesla's valuation continues to be about the greatest consensual hallucination in the US equity market (IMO), but that's not the only horse he has in the stall. As long as he continues to cut Trump in, I expect his DOGE bull-shittery will direct ever more public coin into his pockets over the next few years too....
