  • They probably used those dropouts on a lot of different frames.

  • is the preference for tape on the bullhorns or on the tri bars

I taped the base bar, which I hold for about 6 seconds in a 10 🤷

  • What are the allen head bolts in the dropouts for? Surely not mudguard points?

You guessed it. Nope not really, they're for replaceable drop outs/track ends. As the frame has track ends (with gear hanger) fitted, I suspect it may have been the invitation to fit a narrower track hub which caused the cracked chainstay.

  • I taped the base bar, which I hold for about 6 seconds in a 10 🤷

That kind of makes sense to me as when holding the base bar you're presumably turning so want some reasurance. Whereas your hands 'rest' on the tri-bars with your elbows doing a lot of the gripping?

    #ArmchairTester #NeverUsedTriBars

  • Yeah your hand just sit delicately on the hand hold bits of the extensions when in the tuck. I think I've seen tester say that if you need grip enhancement, something is wrong with your position.

  • TBF, the only reasons I taped the base bars was to keep the brake cable tied down.

  • I tend to wrap my base bar and extensions with very thin cloth tape

  • Just don't forget the regulation sand paper on the saddle channel.

The lengths we go to posting photos on the internet.

DA 7800 crankset with Doval TT chainrings bought on ebay for £25 💪

  • Fit DA
Sell the wonky rings for £30
    ?????
    Profit!

  • Sorry no photo update but if I've done my calculations right everything should either be in the post or offered by very generous people here, baring a rear brake caliper. Due to the nights drawing in the next photo might be something that looks like an almost finished bike...

  • Want a Planet X Superlight caliper?

  • In need of an aero Garmin mount?
I've got a brand new in packaging Bar Fly TT mount I can do for £15 posted

  • @umop3pisdn You complete me. PM'd

@Pifko Unfortunately don't own a Garmin but appreciate the offer nonetheless.

  • 7800 chainset turned up and after a quick clean it looks half decent, I know people often say it but the quality is pretty impressive. I've got a TT bar set-up enroute (Bontrager XXX) but the carbon tri bars don't have holes for internal cabling which in hindsight I would like to keep things clean so might look for an alternative. Also they lack tri bar height adjustment for fine tuning but we'll see.

    • BB retapping £15
    • M-Part Elite headset £20
    • Shimano 7800 cranks & Doval chainring £25

    • Total £60

  • Just not that one, as it's the undrilled track version.

  • Who needs brakes on a drag strip?!

  • under saddle paracute confirmed

  • If only I was that fast 😐

  • Collected the fork from the post office this morning, very generous guy on timetrialling forum sent them without receiving payment, will update costs here when paid. Getting excited but also a bit scared of the bike as know it represents a lot of pain to come!
