Tell me about it :-(

Just back from lbs after having crankset fettled and getting some washers for the brake calipers, all terribly exciting stuff!
I'm finally getting ready to finish this after my non-bike related thing (she said yes!) but I'm struggling a little bit on final choices.
I'm stumped on gearing...
Which cassette? What ratio? Which chainrings? What sizes? Which chain?
I'm aiming more towards lightweight climber than out and out speed I think...
Would 52/36 x 11-28t be the way to go?
I'm leaning towards Rotor Q-Rings as I have them on my Koga Miyata and I like them on that.Recommendation for best carbon fibre brakepads also welcomed.

Congrats dude!!

Those cages are great for reference, had mine for 18 months with no issues.

Oh excellent news! I did have my doubts about them and a fair share of naysaying from different people!

The one thing I would recommend is a drop of loctite on the bolts, as they're quite snug the bottle may have unscrewed one of my bolts going in and out over time and I noticed it was a bit loose. It's also possible I may have been a bit shy when tightening them originally due to the nature of them, but yeah a drop of loctite won't do any harm.

Good to know! I shall apply the loctite liberally!
About to pull the trigger on some very special chainrings after lots of research!

Noooooo!

Yessssss!

Hopefully they last better than carbon rotors seem to

Carbon chainrings last ages, unless you break a tooth. Which is much more likely with a front derailleur.
-
• #141
That's what I've heard. I'm going to go very easy for the initial kms and just keep checking on derailleur setup so cables are properly bedded in etc. but I believe they last every bit as long as any other material in normal usage!
52/36 rings are ordered and en route anyway along with a 110bcd S-Works carbon spider as they can't make a 130bcd 36t inner.
Does anyone have a recommendation for lightweight/ excellent brake cables, gear cables and 11sp chain?

Progress is slow but getting closer.

Awesome, though are shifting ramps built in to make the shifting nicer?
-
• #145
Yep, described on their website as having "lift pins and release teeth".
-
• #146
Interesting, as normally they are riveted and forged in, so maybe they are moulded in?
-
• #147
I'll have a closer study of them when I'm home and take some more in depth photos of the profile and finish!
Nokon cables, DA 9100 11-30t cassette and Fizik Superlight tape ordered also... -

Build progress update.
I didn't realise there are only two cables in a Nokon cable set so another set is en route now! Have yet to fit 110bcd spider and chainrings. Rear brake feels really off, need to check if it's just poorly set up or if spring is banjacksed.
Otherwise kind of almost there!

Have you finished this yet?
It's damn close but I've a non-bike related thing gobbling all funds at present so finishing touches might take a while yet!
