  • Watched the Guy Kestevan review- now the question is does he know what he’s talking about?

  • Yep. Chris Harris of MTB.

  • He loves the RC295

  • I’m SDW’ing tomorrow if anyone is around btw.

  • Pack a snorkel.

  • Yes, I am a bit worried about that.

  • MM/NN combination howl on tarmac, seem to grip well in the slop.

  • Pace are making a long travel, eBike version of the RC295 I learned yesterday.

  • 28mm Hunt carbon all-mountain wheels- anyone heard good or bad things about them?

  • ?

    Maxxis 29”x2.4 DHR 2 EXO/TR

This is relevant to my interests

  • Anyone got a comment on the spec for the RC295, or is all that kit fairly well thought of? The wheels are an unknown quantity to me.

  • Spec looks great, cant go wrong with 12 speed xtr. The wheels are a bit of an unknown quantity to everyone because they have only just been released. Cant find any proper long term reviews on them yet - just the usual initial reviews that are pretty much just press release. But they have a life time crash replacement. Considering they cost £800 alone thats pretty good. Its nice not having to worry about a cracked rim. But no long term test available yet that can comment on the rims durability. Not the lightest wheels at 1800g but then not the heaviest either.
If it was me I'd take a chance on them. I was considering the hunt wheels before I bought a new Santa Cruz that came with reserve wheels.

  • I'd also consider upgrading to the reverb AXS. Means you can swap it between bikes if they share the same post diameter.
Obvs much neater overall too. But v spendy

  • Have a look at Magura MT7 brakes, with 4 lever options to procrastinate over you’ll be in heaven.

  • Naaaaaaaah, those maguras are as ugly as they are powerful. Needs the full xtr bling factor. The M9120 4 piston brakes are the most aesthetically pleasing I've seen in a while.

  • I quite like them 😳

  • I could maybe just about tolerate them without the luminous green bits... but only just

  • out of curiosity have you ever had a set? I always wonder if they feel as powerful as claimed

  • MT7s are the best brakes. The MT Trail Carbon is absolutely banging too, but I would say that owning a set.

  • I have the XTR 4 piston brakes on the Scalpel, so it’d be a single type of pad in the spares bag if I stuck with them.

  • The Fortus 30 wheel set is 2.5kg, which strikes me as a lot, hence the Hunts.

  • Frighteningly heavy. Is this spec what pace offer or are you buying a frameset only and free to pick and choose the build?
