  • See if @PhilDAS needs another one.

  • I can second photochromic lenses. So much better than they used to be

  • See if @PhilDAS needs another one.

He hasn't picked up the first one yet!

  • It's often due to over tightening the seat clamp

  • As in the clamp for the saddle, or the clamp for the post? I tightened up the saddle cradle bolts before riding today so that would be consistent with the fault, but I suspect you mean seat post clamp?

  • Yup, seat post clamp.

  • Hmm, Googling this is suggesting that if I pull the post out I may see oil dripping from the post, and that it's FUBAR.

  • This is why you're not allowed to use Google

  • It would be annoying if it's failed after maybe 20Km

  • I'll pull it tomorrow and slay Schrodingers (dropper) cat.

In other news, I wore my Dirtlej suit today and it was much amaze - rode for an hour in very wet conditions, got to the car and stripped it off and I was bone dry underneath.

Just had to wipe my lower legs down and stick some normal shoes on, bosh.

  • In Pace news, the below:

  • But with XTR shifters, cranks, mech, and four piston brakes, plus the (Hope?) front rotor enlarged to 203mm, and an XX1 cassette, would be £4,999.

    What does the hive-mind think?

  • I'd think if you're going to bother swapping all that out for Shimano, get at least an XT cassette so you get the full benefit

  • What would the benefit be?

  • (I was going to go with SRAM because of far wider hub choice in future).

  • They've completely reworked the tooth profiles so that you can mash both up and down shifts under power. And by all accounts it works.

Hope apparently now have licence to make microspline freehub bodies, and DT Swiss already can, so it's not like you're tied into anything anyway

  • Looks like a nice goldilocks frame though

  • Ok, I'll go for an XTR cassette instead of the XX1.

  • But use Magura MT7 brakes. Do it.

  • Get them to set the tyres up tubeless?

  • I can do the tyres, it's a little odd the way they do it but there you go. Maybe it's a Northern thing, like squeaky voices and lard as a snack.

  • The solution is tubeless tyre inserts then run 10 psi for grip that's witha 2.1" tyre as well.

  • Change gear whilst pedalling?!

    Ewwwwww

  • If only Hope still made gold components

  • Go for reverse mullet configuration to be bang up to date.

    Don't get tanwalls.
