Don’t know about the geo but bigger tyres = higher BB
-
• #53
Not sure how much bigger I'd want to go anyway TBH
Obviously it would be nice to have two tyres of the same size... -

CdF BB drop is 73mm. Equilibrium BB drop is... 72mm.
650b * 1.75" is approximately the same wheel diameter as a 700c * 25mm (discounting tyre pressure) so you're well within tolerance on both bikes I'd say.

Thank you Sergeant Stats.

Little bit of progress...chain is too long and stem is too short but making progress.
Everything else I need is now in the post so should finish next weekend.
Now... black or yellow bar tape?

I vote yellow to piss off the Velominati types.

Really love the XTR cranks on this, did you get a good deal on them?

I've had them for ages - just waiting for the right time to use them. I think they look alright too :)

Slightly concerned about chainline but I'll work that out once I've got a gear cable in there...

Just waiting on one more package and then i'll finish it off.
I am however really keen on a paint job like this at some time in the future if it all works out nicely. Who would do this and what would it cost me?

Cole coatings do good work

Yes they look great! Might have to wait until I have a few more pennies though as it's more expensive than I anticipated, unless I'm reading it wrong but looks like it might be about £350 to achieve the above including sandblasting.
Thanks for sharing though mate -

@privatepatterson might be able to share some clarity on their pricing for you

Went black to avoid reproach ;)

It's finished. But no photo. Rides well. #worstupdate

This thing is so much fun! It’s not as pretty as it could have been (cabling etc) but I wasn’t ready for how much fun thumping along gravel was going to be.

Yes I may still go that way. I had all the bits and it didn't take long to chuck it together. CDF needs headset and adaptor for the rear brake so more time-consuming.
Out of interest - any reason why CDF wouldn't be prone to the same pedal strike issues, given that it is also a 700c-based frame?
I appreciate that it's built more with CX in mind so that may well be a factor. I'll look for some comparison stats but interested in your opinion.
