  • And here's a guy not part of the race but doing his own transcontinental ride from Munich to Istanbul :-)

  • cybernck = TCR super groupie. :)

    (Well done.)

  • 20 days of riding and a shrinking group remain on the road. No longer among them is #175 Dimitry Kumundzhiev who did make one big push yesterday, 244.9 km and completed the race.

#127 Shiela Woollam managed a very creditable 200 km yesterday and is up and riding. She has covered 61 km already this morning and now has only 116 km to go. She will finish today.

#91 Caroline Item rode 157 km yesterday and has already ridden 61 km today, With only 158 km to go, one can also expect her to finish today.

#33 Rafael Martinez Gonzalez has put in a couple of big days. 227 and then 207 km. He has already ridden 92 km today. He is in Greece and should finish today.

#184 Michel Vandermeerschen did a big 220 km yesterday. He was on the road early this morning and has covered 20 km so far. This leaves him with 192 km to ride and, barring problems, he should also finish today.

#163 Denis Uzadiaev is a little further away with 320 km to ride. His last four days have been 238/122/219/174 km. Every chance, therefore, of a finish tomorrow.

#131 James Illman is trackerless and seems to be enjoying one of the more eventful rides. Yesterday at lunch time he still had 330 km to go and was pushing for a Sunday finish. He is still ill, however, and had to bow out and seek a hotel last night. While having breakfast yesterday a tree branch fell on to the awning under which he was having his breakfast narrowly missing him. He also saw a tortoise on the road. Considering his recent travails, his twitter feed is very upbeat and well worth a follow.

16 hours ago he reported having 33o km to go. 11 hours ago, he said that he had done 140 km so far that day. 9 hours ago, he sought out an hotel. Difficult to tell exactly how far he has left but I would sincerely hope that he finishes no later than tomorrow.

#44 Lionel Bobb rode a solid 165 km yesterday. He is now only 188 km from CP4. Only sounds like a gross understatement. He has around 905 km in total until the end. Great photos of him yesterday above. He rode the TCRNo4 but had to scratch due to achilles issues. He is from London. He has been averaging just over 150 km a day for the past 20 days and so six more days could well see him finish in 26 days total.

#171 Neil Matthews is making his way to CP 3. He still has 441 km to go before he arrives there. He is averaging around 90 km a day. Yesrday he rode 100 km and is already riding this morning. He is not yet half way and so, at this rate, he could be another three or maybe four weeks.

In summary, we will see four riders finish today and a further two tomorrow. There will be then two riders left to slug it out to the bitter end. It's turning into a bizzare reverse elimination race.

  • Just caught up on James Illman's (131) twitter feed. This guy is so amazingly upbeat after all the spanners being thrown into his race. I mean, on the evening before the start he fell down some stairs and started riding with a bandaged knee!

  • Keep falling asleep after a meal. Hope it gets better soon because tomorrow I got to go work again. :)

  • Met Lionel briefly in my hotel at the start. Nice bloke.

  • Nice work!

You definitely get a lift when you see someone dot watching or some messages on the road. I'm sure all the riders who saw it were well pleased!

  • I struggled with this too... so I cut down from four bottles of wine with each meal to just the one. :D

  • But which meal do you drink the wine after?

  • Don’t be stupid. All of them.

  • 131 James Illman has just crossed into Greece!

  • Rafael Martinez Gonzalez (#33) looks like to have taken a wrong turn - so close to the finish as well.

  • It looks as though #33 has decided to avoid the final parcours

  • Dafuq, missing everything. That road around is shit.
    Silly.

  • He’s finished now. Wonder what happened.

  • Well technically not...

  • Caroline Item only 24km away from finishing within 3 weeks. Could just do it.

  • Perhaps he'd had a broken/dead GPS computer and took the wrong turning?
Hopefully he'll climb up and do the parcour once he realizes.

  • Oh no. Looks like she’s missed the turning.

  • Is there a road closure or something?

Seems like a weird coincidence that the two people trying to finish have both missed the final parcours.

  • Both may be very tired and making (different) mistakes.
