Nice.

pre spray paint?

Was?
I don't understand. You mean: are you dumb enough to wire bike up before having to take it all apart before painting it? Yes.
I need to check it. I have never done it before -

Re cargo bike: After a lot of prototyping I am now back where I started with a single wire and pulley system. Pulleys will fit standard skateboard bearings for accessibility on the road and wire rope is 1.5 marine grade stuff that can be replaced with brake cable on the fly.
I went to Arthur Beale today and got some parts. Hopefully we will have a ridable cargo bike this weekend!

Re Rando: here is a sketch of how I imagine my stem will look like. I am no sure if built in decaleur is smart yet. I will think a bit about that.

Too bad. What's the catch with brake cables?
If the pulleys dont work either you could regress back to steering rod but connected to the crown of the fork ala:
to avoid the normal wide bend. -

Well, dual brake cables end up hanging to far under main tube which mean the cable stops end up big and clumsy which defeats the purpose. Pulleys and single wire end up lighter in the end. I am still up for trying it out at some point, but I would need to change main geometry and that is too late at this stage.
I do not mind the rod principal but I would like make the bike as light as possible and have perfect turn radius. -

internal cabling... (probably annoying)

Does it need pulleys? Can you run full outer to the front and then have cable stops? Too much friction?

The thing that I find annoying with (bullitt) rod steering is the feeling of a hole in the middle of the steering. When you are making a turn you are actively pushing or pulling the wheel and there is no problem but in the middle (so most of the time) there is a delay before the bars grab the wheel on each small correction.
I am hoping that having two (tight) wire would remove the slack.
..or maybe the bullitt I have tried is needing adjustment :)

It is a bit much trying to explain my issues re this without making drawings that explain it. And I don't have time for that right now.
Most ideas re using housing work in theory, but you need a cable stop inline with cable connected to both fork crown and steerer.
This is not possible without really strange contraptions brazed to the main tube and anything I have tried ends up prohibiting the steering radius. -

That all sounded a bit arrogant. That is not how I meant it. Sorry
Basically I have tried copying the Douze bikes system. But it doesn't adapt to my preferred geometry and construction method. I want the build process to be very simple and this attempt I am going for now is the lightest and least complicated system I've come up with so far.
Everything is also made harder by me working in this in downtown London and bike frame being in Leytonstone -

@mdcc_tester says brake cable hangers like that cause a load of judder

fantastic shop but i wonder if anyone has ever been to arthur beale to actually buy something for a boat?

Oh yeah no doubt about that. But it makes me feel alive :)

That's an impressively minimalist fork you've got there
(I guess whilst I'm hear I should point out you've got a slack chain too)

Nope, those Rozone Smartwasher.
Much kinder to my skin and still strong enough to degrease parts.
