CS9 Kensington to Brentford public consultation closes Oct 31st

Cycling has been proven to increase business infact. People will make more trips once they see how easy/safe/cheap it to cycle to the local shops.

They are being revised by TfL and it's indeed taking longer than expected, which is not a surprise.
Issue is that then a decision about CS9 shall be made after the elections in May, which might delay the whole thing, but give Tfl more time to accomodate as much feedback as possible.

I do think it'll be still a very nice CS9, but no idea how they're going to adapt the Chiswick portion.

It'll drag on and be watered down fully in line with Khan's aspirations for cycling in London is my prediction.

I bet the residents near to King Street in the Ravenscourt Park area are loving the zero motorised traffic due to the current roadworks. Shame it didn't happen while the consultation was out as there might have been a few more up for supporting the superhighway. So nice to ride down a normally busy west London road with no traffic and no noise!!

While I'm here, anyone know what the hire bikes are that have popped up everywhere from Hammersmith to Chiswick and beyond? Look like 1980s BMXs with their mag alloys :0)

Dunno which company, but there are hundreds of them across my bit of W6 - arrived yesterday. Like the last company that did it a few months ago, I doubt they got permission from the council, and I guess they disappear soon.

If you were going to do a jewel heist by bike, why would you wait till they built a cycle lane?

...and as for ram raids using motor vehicles, a segregated cycle path would provide an additional, if small barrier.

Lots* of vocal local opposition, expect Khan to kick this into the long grass.

Mind you, I could get behind the idea of having only one cycle lane, one bus lane, and no other lanes at all.

They could even make the pavement outside St Whinging's church extra wide with the space freed up by getting rid of the cars.

The business supported CS9, saying many employees cycle to work, and that a larger proportion would cycle if they felt safe on the roads. They noted their long and passionate history with cycling, highlighting their partnership with British Cycling which has resulted in over 1.7 million more people cycling now than compared to 2008. They said the scheme would benefit staff and visitors, and called for an extension to Hyde Park in the east and Heathrow Airport in the west.

Unfortunately hounslow council elections are taking place so It's decision has been postponed. I Think until April. Perhaps a few changes in councillors by then.
