  • Now that butters my parsnips, but doubt my pockets are deep enough. If you do want shot, do send us a DM.

  • Will do. Bit of a debate for me. If I build it, I’ll get rid of a few bikes that I’m attached to. So has to fill a few gaps.

  • Fair enough, that one bike to rule them all is the dream eh. Either way, hope it all works out.

  • Ohhh no no, there'll still be about 4 other bikes...

  • I might have something, but need to check it when I'm back in the office next week.
It is a 58' inch, and @Alb built it.

  • It's an Equilibrium 853 mate

  • Probably also not 58 inches.

  • bottom bracket is high enough to not cause any trouble with the smaller wheels, i guess.

  • @jambon Give us a shout. After this conversation, I test rode someone's Donhou. It floored me. He said he wants it gone...I'm now conflicted.

  • It isn't 57 inches, I will tell you that.
    What Albinder said.

  • Croix de Fer into road mode following a reshuffle. Not managed to ride it yet but it’s nice to have a slammed stem.

  • looks great, I've always liked that copper colour

  • Thanks! It’s a lovely colour and I’ve now realised looks best with all black kit. Fun to go from heavy steel fork + rack back to a lighter build. Though I think someone mentioned it was improved even more with a full carbon fork.

  • My 2017 Equilibrium with a lick of powder coat. Changed the forks to Thorn Audax last year for a few more rack mounting options but definitely prefer a saddlebag to the load up front.

  • in case you've not seen it, there's a list here of carbon forks with straight h/t
    https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/329305/

  • Classy build and a great looking frame.

  • Useful link thanks! The ritchey fork would definitely be top of the list. A lot of them tend to overbuilding with the extra mounts for cargo cages. I have a steel fork (and now a whole new Faran) for that.

  • Is the Day One literally just a CDF with horizontal dropouts? Or is the geo different.

I’ve been looking at one for sale that’s supposedly my size, but it looked different to my CDF

  • Genesis sizing is odd; I think it is different. I ride a 58cm day one flat bar but would normally ride a 54cm road bike with drops (or a 56cm with short reach at a push). The stack & reach I usually look for would put me on a small cdf. How recent is the day one you were looking at? Mine is early and was marketed as a cx bike and (I think) pre dates the cdf.

  • I don’t know much about the frame - waiting to hear back from the seller. I ride a small CDF (52cm I think?). Looking at this one for sale, the headtube seems longer - top and down tubes meeting rather than having space inbetween like mine. Beyond that, I’ve got nothing to go on! If it’s different geo, it could quite feasibly be the right size for me, and look like that.

Edit: looks like a 2015 maybe?

Edit edit: ok, I unlazied myself and worked out that it is indeed a 2015 Day One - same year as my CDF and according to geometrygeeks, the exact same frame apart from the dropouts.
So I guess the one I’m looking at is a smaller size (50cm I guess) than my CDF

  • Me again. I had a stoopid idea to re-paint a genesis and use this particular logo of the band of the same name as a replacement for the DT logo. Ives got a niggling feeling that this isn’t actually my idea and that I’ve seen it done before, possibly even on here. Can anyone confirm?

  • Ah of course! Yeah, I do remember that now - I may have even seen it in the flesh 😂

  • It looks like Genesis have discontinued the Equilibrium. No road bikes listed on their site anymore : (
