that awful Epping clay
:'(
-
• #78
Epping isn't awful, but that path with the clay kills everything and makes your tyres like balloons

That's the bit near whips cross by the bridge. Avoid when wet :)

Think there must be a leaking pipe under there or something. Fell in that in February when it was a real bog but it's damp in midsummer. Smelt for months afterwards. There's a continuation of the singletrack which cuts it out if you carry on a few metres up the path towards the east (when traveling south, or just fork right on the singletrack if going north).

Where did you get that rear hub from? Need to get my crux rebuilt and that looks like a neater option than loads of spacers and a heavily dished wheel.
-
• #87
You can get them direct if you cant find it elsewhere

Got mine direct from novatec. Stayer Cycles might start carrying them but also dt 350 will be an option for you.

Thanks all. DT 350's would be nice, but unfortunetly too pricey with everything factored in.

Fair enough.

Frames is back from paint, altho the forks might not be ready yet. Either way I am going to Stayer cycles tomorrow to take a look and drop off hubs

Frame's back.
Forks are sprayed and frame powder coated. Match is perfect.
BUT I got a pair of new forks that are much lighterThe frame is lighter than anticipated
Front wheel wasn't completely done so finishing the build will have to weight a couple of days, but I started building the bike nonetheless.

Has anybody have issues with TRP RRL and mini vs? Pull ratio seems wrong. Like trying to use road levers on v brakes
-
• #99
Apparently pull ratio is pretty much the same as sram levers (2.0) but I didn't really get on with them either, felt like they didn't pull enough cable to me and they weren't all that comfortable either.

I ran Sram s500 levers with cx9s, felt positive, although it was on commuter/road bike so could set pads pretty close to the rim.
Maybe this is the bike gods telling you to run cantis and let me have the cx8.4s.
I had 8.4's on my macho man with SRAM levers and they were ok even clogged up with that awful Epping clay, I wound the adjustor out a a bit if it was bad to give me extra clearance. That being said I wasn't racing and could easily stop to adjust.
