Another awesome race this year. Was rooting for Kenway for the overall, but Evans is hardly undeserving. Brilliant efforts from @dbr and @luft too, it was great to meet you both, and made my day even better having people I ‘knew’ to look forward to.
Speaking of which, some evidence of me hassling @dbr on a quiet corner below. Not sure the chap with the purple tasseled micro scooter quite understood.

Does that take it under 5kg? Nice.
Still, would have been fun to try and shave off 50g for free

15g isn't worth the Crr penalty.
-
• #561
15g of rotational weight must be a lot surely? How bad actually is the crr?
-
• #562
Bad

The 120g tubs that Rich used in 2015 were 65g lighter than Vittoria Cronos, and it was touch and go as to whether that was enough difference to justify using them as Crr was similarly poor.

Tufo tubs are actually made from recycled Czech hosepipes. FACT.

OK. What light tub (that’s available second hand on eBay) ticks the boxes?
Those Vittorias are like £70

Keep an eye out for Vittoria cronos

I'd somehow missed this thread. It's a great read and well done!
Like others have said it makes you want to go out and hill climb. I'm probably a bit old for it but I might disgrace myself next year.. -

Do it!
Read A Corinthian Endeavour if you need any more convincing.

What's that crr everyone is talking about?
-
• #571
Coefficient of rolling resistance

• #572
I'll check it out.
What got you in to the hill climbing?
I've never done any sort of racing but this appeals for some reason -

Beating my brother up hills was a start. Then we found out about Lea Valley CC’s club hill climb on our local Mott Street. Came maybe third five years ago, won it a couple of years in a row then started doing opens too.
Last year was the first serious-ish season, this year I was pretty dedicated with training and the bike. Plenty of room for improvement though.
Give them a go! The club events are very relaxed and welcoming. There’s something about hill climbs and the end of the season that puts everyone in a good mood. Like the silly story about a cat in a tree at the end of the evening news.
Even once you get to the sharp end of open events people are really friendly. Everyone understands that you can only do what you can do, baring a mechanical or catastrophic pacing, the strongest / lightest rider will win so everyone is just in it to do their best.

That's a noble sentiment.
The more I watch live cycling events the more I notice a lot of the crowd won't care who you are or where you place but just wanna encourage you to not fail. Like MTB/bmx tryna progress.
Must be nice that. -

Yeah, post race chat at HQ is good, usually with lots of support for the young, old and new :)
Pre-race is a little different however, as a lot of riders are in their own little world; putting their bike together, warming up on their turbo and performing any other kind of pre-race ritual they have.
That’s on Strava, I’m interested to see if they release the split times.
