So, It’s been over a week since the axle snapped on my Middleburn RS8’s.
Really quite disappointed that I have had no meaningful responses from BETD aside from a few holding emails. Hopefully this ‘social media outing’ will elicit a more meaningful response, because if this is a fault on other cranks from this batch, someone else may not bounce as well as I do
Feel a bit of a tit doing it this way, but it’s very frustrating that they haven’t at least apologised in the first instance. I do understand that there maybe some complications as the bought Middleburn just after it closed, but come on, a few words in an email isn’t too much to ask.
Not keen to go nuclear with the BC solicitors, but not scared to if absolutely necessary
Some more photos of the snapped bits below

I suggest finding their twitter or Facebook. Posts directed at them are much more publically visible there and they might care a bit more

Not on Facebook and my Twitter is dormant
Well I've been informed its actually just a load of untappd badges as its still linked to that....
I'll leave it on IG and see what happens, if anything

Gone wild, tried a tweet

Well my efforts with BETD have been in vain, as they have informed me that due to the way they bought parts of the company that was Middleburn, and as I bought the parts from Middleburn before BETD became involved, BETD have no liability for the axle snapping.
Any case I may or may not have is against the old Middleburn, who have been wound up.
BETD have offered me a £50 voucher against their products, none of which I need.
Legally, they appear to be on safe ground and despite initially being angry about it all, (I'd just like a new set of cranks) I really cant be arsed attempting to have a ruck about it online, or getting solicitors involved, so I'm just going to chalk it up to bad luck, be happy I didn't get badly hurt and hopefully get the Isen built ASAP and enjoy riding that.

In better news, full R80o is here, even as a Campag man, it does look pretty good and they have done a great job on the shifters.
Isen gate coming soon...

Which means I need to start thinking about what to do with the Train bike
As it will probably get used as a pub bike up in Scotland, and rather fittingly along an old railway line to Aberfeldy, i’m Thinking 1x9 and some Jones/swept back bars with the biggest tyres I can fit under guards, with 700’s.
Width prob more of a clearance issue.
Any one know if 10speed SRAM trigger shifters would work with a 10’s Apex read mech?

Any one know if 10speed SRAM trigger shifters would work with a 10’s Apex rear mech?
Yes!
I find apex stuff tends to pretty sloppy/crap. Rival is not much more but better
-
• #110
Sweet
I’ve had 4 sloppy years out of it, so if it can be converted that’s great.
Assume just a cable swap and set up required then?
-
• #111
You can probably reuse the gear cable since its probably a bit shorter at the front for risers than going round a bend on drops
-
• #112
I meant interms of the ‘nipple’ on the cable being compatible across MTB and Road shifters.
If it’s the same, no worries
-
• #113
No two nipples are the same
-
• #114
Or in your case, three
-
• #115
I'm fairly sure the road/mtb nipples are compatible. I've had a 10 speed trigger shifter playing well with a long cage rear rival mech for a year or so now.

I think you are correct, google is certainly saying it’s that way
Time for some planning then 2nd hand shopping 🤗

Finally got something moving project wise.
Train is stripped and ready to transfer its essentials to an Isen. Hopefully all will be ready with full R800, dyno and rackage to become the new work machine.
So that means Trainbiek can go up Home and become a railway line cruiser for the run to Aberfeldy.
And then I'm going to upgrade my MTB after Strathpuffer from the Cotic Soda to a Genesis Tarn, possibly Tarntainium....
So this F&F will be for sells soon

Isen is finished in it current guise.
Still dynamo Wheels, wirings for lights and a few other bits and bobs to do, but it’s rolling and being used for work so I’m happy. Big thanks to @coldharbour , Blue Door and Brixton Cycles for accommodating me and my mechanical ineptitude.
Lovely bike to ride and first impressions are excellent. Still can’t grt used to the ‘soft’ indirect feel of Shimano though....

Frames history
Apparently this came direct from Cotic to Brixton Cycles brand new, when it was launched. It then sat there for a while. It was then built up for Linx in full XTR XC mode and was used for about 2 races. It then spent decade in his bike store, before i bought it off him last year.
Brixton converted it to 1x11 and serviced it. Its then be used at trail centres around the country and for XC races, its recently done Strathpuffer and performed far better than me!
Since moving to Scotland, Escape Route in Pitlochry (and Brixton Cycles) have looked after it for me and its in very good condition.
I reckon this bike has done less than a 1000 miles in its lifetime, I have only done 800 on it myself.
I'm selling as I am in love with a Tarn and it has to be mine.
Any questions please ask.
Postage included or collection from Pitlochry area grand as well.
Photos to be uploaded - but one here for now

Started to put Trainbiek back together this evening.
Front mech didn’t survive the journey up to Scotland, so it’s botched 1x for now
I got the Btwin front rack on alright though and I reckon it’ll stay put and I’ll Bodge the dyno light to it some how.
Rest is parts bin stuff and I’m after a front pannier rack and a fuck off massive rear rack, so it can be used for shopping trips to Aberfeldy. Wonderfully, I can get to Aberfeldy along an old railway line 🤗

I’ve heard it referred to only as ‘The Jungle’
