• Also any update on di2 cable lengths required for 55cm frameset

  • No, we inferred he had over torqued while out when he "adjusted" it. He u derived torqued it, and leaving stuff too loose can be just as bad as over tightening. Let's say the frame was on the loose side as far as far as interference fit goes, he has left the post too loose. As he's bouncing around on it (let's assume he's fat, it suits my argument) he's damaging the post as exactly the point it failed. Dependent on seat tube angle, how long the butt for holding the post is, heat deformation from welding etc... a post can be suprisingly loose and not slip.

I agree that it's just a tube of carbon with some cast ally bonded on top, and you can get a usable seat post that's lighter and just as functional for a fraction of the cost, my beef is I just don't agree with his conclusions. If you want to moan at people charging unbelievable amounts of money for plastic then go for enve first ;)

    @Dammit won't be happy

  • It's a fine argument, but it's all preference. Value is a personal preference, and there is a lot to be said to be able to sue someone if your product fails. Also, in my experience the more expensive something is the more likely you'll have a good experience if something does go wrong. Unless it's Italian.

  • Loose posts gonna slip though, not get crushed. (there's definitely a sausage down a hallway joke here).

  • Not necessarily, see above.

  • .... or my sausage.

  • Lies.

Besides I was only looking for an argument then thought better of trolling your thread and went to the Home one instead for some eastywesty action.

Just when you think you're out... they pull you back in...

    Anyway, overpriced components >>>

PRO ftw (oh god, except their £500000 di2 bars)

  • But pro use those awful structural arrows just like hope. I assume they are structural as there is no other possible reason for then...

  • I dunno. I quite like them.

My standards are quite 'unfussy' though...
Stems: does it have four bolts? does it not snap? Sorted
Seatpost: does it hold my saddle in the air at the correct height? Sorted
Bars: Is it the same cheapass FSA shallow-drop I've been using the last 5 years? Sorted

Actually I seem to have a lot of PRO stems and not a lot of other stuff.

  • I have PRO on my road bike excellent value for money but I was going to say the Vibe stem I have with the arrow shape cap is terrible....It's not even aligned with the stem and it sticks out by 3 min at least...You would think that if you do your own cap with fancy shape you make sure it matches perfectly the outlines of the f'ing stem...

  • That's odd I have a Pro Missile stem and if I actually used the top cap it fits nice. I'm just too lazy (and worried about future adjustments) to cut the steerer to fit the aero top cap.
Is yours genuine? It's not like Shimano to make stuff wonky.

  • This fastener combination allows float on both sides

Furry muff, I didn't know they had a barrel nut. Still as ugly as sin and the shape departs for no good reason (other than to add extra ugliness) from a simple flat band which is the correct shape to generate uniform radial force.

  • Shit, I got one over tester. Better buy a lottery ticket.

As for ugliness, you're talking to a guy who races on a tri bike and uses a COBL GOBLR seatpost. They're so ugly they've basically crossed over into supermodel territory.

  • Bad boy tooling for the next batch.

  • Ribbed for your pleasure

  • Are you sure they were Zenith mudguards? or are they the zeppelins? how much bending did they need to fit? Magic Mike or Matt Coldharbour levels of strength required?

    https://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/fenders/650b.html

  • Bending the stay you mean?

If you mean bend the mudguard itself, don’t.

  • @edscoble

my mistake, thought he mentioned the guards needed bending to fit, it was trimming that was rqd.

ed, would pdw city guards fit a 42mm 650b tyre?

  • Ah yeah Zeppelins. Yes Ed is right, they don't bend. You need to file the bottle of the guard where it goes down by the BB to fit inbetween the stays, that's all.

  • Will the pdws fit better?

  • they'll fit the frame much better, but not the tyres.

  • The bits have (almost) all arrived....

A lot has just been lying around for a year and a half since I built the 3T.
