I had luck finding p-clips in the right size at an auto parts store.

Yep tried that too, and wandering around the local car boot, loads of electrical connectors and plastic clips, the odd section 5 firearm, knocked off lawnmowers and chainsaws.
With a bit of grinding to come i can direct fit mudguard stays to the fork.
I have high flange hubs, the M4 bolt heads just clear the spoke heads, i don't fancy the spokes being ground away :)
With a grind on the stays, thinner washer, and maybe grind the bolt head, should have good clearance. No photo's as my camera is away at sea at the moment.

Gone back to Rollins point of birth :)
Road trip today as a touristenger (well train trip and tube)
Got me some P-clips from Brixton Cycles and a hat, cracking deal, P-clips came free with hat, did try for a surly steel chainring 42t 130bcd but only to order :( chainring can wait as non-urgent.
Hacked about the city, didn't have camera but did some random bike spotting, an epic Lo-Pro with BMX risers on at the top of Duke street off Oxford street (must be on here :) )
Got trapped on the tube briefly as an "Incident" was occurring, not what you want to hear over the intercom, must have been minor, 5-10mins tops.
Tried the Caff a few doors up from Condor, good brekkie, think it was called "Food Bazzar"
Went to the Wallace collection for some culture (Laughing Caviler) and stunning commuter wear in the Armouries gallery, can't beat a bit of handmade fluted steel Maximilian armour.Quick pitstop to tescos, it's wine-o-clock, then set about fitting the rack..........
Drunk mechanics, what could possibly go wrong....... still got all finger tips intact after the last time.

Rammed a 35mm CX race in there, everything clears :)
Managed to get this rack slightly lower, different shape/profile to the other rack.
Getting somewhere :)

Ohh, ta for the picture @russmeyer
Didn't think about trying to run through the caliper/cable as in the picture with the support arm.
Hopefully managed it now.Front mudguard.
Tapped the fork lug hole for M4 and tried a fitting. Barely clearance, but it did clear (just) the spoke heads on the hub, which is not something i want skimmed down while riding.
Attacked the stays and bolt heads with a grinder.
Top ones attacked, bottom one stock. looked for thinner washers too.

Been 4 months.
Haven't ridden in that time. Got as far as attaching a rack and picked up some mudguards.
last 4 months have been a bit shit.
Let's pick up where we left off.Today I pumped up the Clements and went for a quick zip round the block (muddy fields)
This highlighted 2 things I already knew. Slick Clements don't work so well in muddy fields, and skinny tubed steel frames don't deflect much crap off the wheels.
Rollins is now drying off.

The FXE I had has found a new home within the forum, it ticked many boxes, just lacked some tyre clearance on the fork.
Plan is to run 35mm cx tyres, most likely getting some Conti CX speed's as folders are £19.99 at the moment, had good times with the knobby CX races with wire bead. The Clements will be posh day out tyres as very lightweight.

Made it round the fields alive, not quiet as hard as the CX champs on this weekend :)
But effing cold.
Legs out of shape, may drop the freewheel from 16t to 18t for a bit as I need to condition my legs again.Shopping.
CRC maybe tubes but folding conti tyres at £20 each, maybe chains as some deals.
Bought a mini Maglite for work, want a bar holder so that can double up as bike light, might get some lezyne femto's little blinky things, work is fairly secure and not in London so bike is fairly safe from being robbed/looted for bits.
SJS do the USE suspension seatpost rebuild kits so...... a bit of shopping on there too, although CRC are winning on tyre prices if you can find them actually in stock.Already got the SKS commuter guards from Halfords, seemed to be same price everywhere and no postage, had these on the FXE, destroyed the rear so have spare parts and bit's of guard and familiar with fitting them. Had a go trying to use the vent holes in the dropout lugs, managed to thread them, just need to fine tune clearance from bolt head to spoke head.

Stuffs ordered, see who gets here first, CRC or SJS, my moneys on CRC.
Rollins now rolling on 35's with some mtb mudguards, it snowed last night.
Not really any snow left, off for a blast round the block with 35mm cx tyres :)Now for some gentle mudplugging :)

That was cold.
No snow.
Lots of water and soup like mud.
Several spin outs but rear tyre is worn and not a mudplugger.
My knees hurt.
Deffo dropping back to 18t on the rear for now.Was a nice gentle rumble from the tyres on tarmac :)

Rear brake with Continental CX race 35mm.
Could add a link to the chain and pull the wheel back in the dropouts for more clearance.

Mudcatching at the chainstay/bb shell.
The chainstay bridge is drilled for a mudguard fitting, and is ED coated inside, if I don't run a bolt through it that will get taped over.

The other day I was chatting with some fella called Lance, said he was a bit of roadie, anyways, chat went to me whinging about sore knees and being out of shape.
Lance says try this Energy Performance something stuff, can't remember the last one, began with an "O"
EPO ? is that a thing.
Lance says it will greatly improve my speed. So, I decided to swap out freewheels and go back to 18t. The 16t Dicta is feeling rough, really rough, might be why my knees hurt, the Shimano is slightly sticky.
Must be what Lance ment, shove this EPO stuff in the freewheels, make them less draggy so faster :)

Not just me then :)
Then again never actually needed p-clips like i want now before.
Did nip up to Halfrauds and got some M4 bolts, £2.19 for a 4pack !
