Managed to nip out early to avoid pageantry overload. Brooks saddle is feeling a lot comfier than I remember.

This is so good. Perfect long distance machine. Have you got a bag for it?

  • Thanks, thin tubes and 32mm tyres feel like the goldilocks zone for me personally. Even the quill stem doesn't bother me for pottering around. I have a rando bag but need to get my act together and sort out a decaleur.

  • You may run into the problems I had, which was not enough Steerer for both a cable hanger and dacaleur in the headset. If you do, I can recommend a Nitto AS-11 stem mounted hanger

  • looks great and nice propping up for the photo

  • This small but crucial detail is what I'd definitely overlook, thanks for the info. I can see how having the stem higher with this set-up would help with cable entry.

@bobble thank you, it was a nervous few seconds... but when you need that gram.

  • Just re-read this whole bikes process again. What a very lovely bike, very inspiring.

  • This really is a beauty.

I know it's not likely to be the lightest bike around, but do you know what it weighs?

  • Finally got my hands on a large CdF frame.

  • RAD!

  • Clearly destiny...

  • Congrats!

  • Thank you functional friends. To temper expectations I'll just be swapping the parts over. To be fair though, nothing gets me more excited than appropriate geometry.

  • Wheels can be converted to TA? Too bad the new frame doesn’t have the nicer fork. Although unicrown is lighter.

  • Very nice, where did you get those rather functional looking components draws please?

  • Thankfully yes. Being mtb hubs they came with spare 15mm TA end caps(?) but I drilled through the qr ones so now they're compatible. Agreed on the fork, I was half considering getting the old steerer lengthened.

  • That was my Christmas present. It's a Raaco 48 drawer cabinet bought from eBay.

  • Raaco 48 drawer

    Thanks!

  • Getting there

  • Very nice, wasting no time.

  • This is genius. I've got some QR wheels I'm now wondering whether I can convert

  • Did the same on an older mtb wheelset. Had 15x100/12x142 thru axles with qr adapters, now i'm using it on a "standard" road bike with 12x100 (drilled qr) and 12x142.

  • Have you drilled through the rear QR adapter? Will the spacing from 135 to 142 be an issue you think?

Or did you have 12x142 adapters?

  • The rear adapters luckily were 12x142 so all good but the ones for the fronts were 15x100, so wouldn't work. I could have bought 12x100 adapters for the front but drilling them was just too easy to ignore. Interested to see if thru axles feel any difference.

  • No surprise, the extra top and head tube length are much better. Being a newer frame it's designed for wider (700c) rubber, so will keep my eyes peeled for a suitable wheelset to swap back from 650b. I'd always wanted to remove the guards and ride more rough stuff, which never really happened, so determined to do this over the spring and summer. After a blast on the local bridleways it's clear more aggressive tread is needed. Pretty happy, great to finally have a frame that's a better fit.
