  • Heads up final balance due tonight

  • Tried to pay the other day but they were having issues.

  • Paid. Cheers for the reminder.

If you're having issues try logging out and back in.

  • No worries.

The enormity of shit still left to do, including now my BB eating itself on Saturday and needing replacing is starting to get to me. Mostly i just want it to start, so that then it'll be over sooner.

  • I had that last year, but then I didn't have a bike until three weeks before so you're already one up in that regard.

  • Was thinking of servicing rear hub but basically can't be arsed. It almost certainly will fail now...

  • it's cool that's why you take two hubs

  • I was planning on leaving the front wheel at home to save weight. I mean, I already one.

  • taking my bike for a pre race tune up tomorrow. Things to get done - brake bleed, new pads, overhaul drivetrain. Anything else I should ask for?

  • A motor and that Tesla feature where it keeps you in your lane so you just plug in your route

  • I don't touch the brakes unless they need it. Pads for sure, cassette, chain, tyres.. Change batteries in everything. Lube stuff that needs it, Speedplay pedals, hubs, etc.

  • hook me up yo.

    @hippy

Brakes definitely need it. Still on the first bleed and they definitely need it. No batteries on my bike, but hubs and pedals a good shout. Would you put new chain and cassette on it? I have new tires but I'll be fitting them a few days before I go.

  • I did cassette and chain just before.

    Also consider replacing the cables

  • First bleed? What brakes? Mine worked from initial setup, once I worked out how to set them up. I don't like to touch stuff that's working unless it's something that wears out.

It's a 4000k race. Unless you have almost new cassette and chain it'll be past its 'totes fucked' wear point before race ends.

  • Cables good shout if you're not Di2.

Cleats if they're worn. Actually anything if it's worn. It will die.

  • Basically replace all replaceables if not new

  • Yeah, but to people who don't make a habit of hippydistance rides, they might not include things like drive chain as replaceable.

Just buy a new bike. It's easier.

  • I bet something like 90% of all bicycles ever made never reach 4,000km total mileage.

My wife's bike has done about 200k in 3 years.

  • Probably right. The only bike I've got that won't do 4k is my double-ended bouncer SS. It's possible if all my other bikes die but unlikely.

  • Pretty sure my mother's bike, before being sold still had purchase stickers on it from 15 years ago. Probably done 20k

Don't diss your mum. She's a legend. Looking forward to her TCR tweets.

  • RS505/BR505. They feel fairly spongy.

    So:

    1. new chain/cassette
    2. Bleed brakes
    3. new pads (sintered)
    4. service rear hub
    5. Service/check BB
    6. new gear cables (is this necessary with only 2000km on em?)
    7. new tires
    8. lube pedals/cleats
    9. check bolts all over

fuck me this is gonna be expensive

  • She'll be over later in the year with the old man to do their own transcon. #carnageatmine

  • You also should be thankful you already have the bike. I have some scary credit card statements these last two years.

Grip paste on anything that might slip. ie. aerobars/handlebars.
