  • Salads for me for the rest of my life...

  • Which was the harder challenge hippy, TCR or TABR?
    Any comparisons you found?
Did you find there was any spill-over in your fitness from the TABR when you were doing TCR? Did it help or hinder?

As in, was the (month?) gap in between the two races enough to feel fresh? I am just thinking of a clip where Kristof Allegaert saying he wasn't riding TCR because he hadn't recovered mentally/physically from previous racing.

  • Harder, not sure, they were both hard. TCR was probably more physically painful with the shit roads but TABR was miserable with the sub-zero temps (give me a heatwave any day!).
TABR was mentally worse because I was on the back foot from the very start and grovelling for lots of it with mechanicals or injury. By the time I watched my goals disappear in the same way in TCR I didn't really care :) TABR is probably easier logistically with more conveniences/services available for much of it.

Fitness from TABR? Ha. No, there's no fitness, just physical issues you hope don't reappear and a mental strength to keep going.

KA pushed a lot harder. With so much shit going wrong I finished TABR riding strong so the month probably was enough to recover physically but mentally perhaps I cared less about my finish position so didn't push on when I should've, although I was still trying to every time I made a move something else would go wrong and I got fed up with it going wrong. I never expected a great result in TCR but thought I could get a top 10. That disappeared pretty quick with routing issues (fucking detours) and then, for me, I don't feel the need to push as hard just to get a minor placing. I could've tried to do a Samuli but my bike was getting worse as time went on. I really should've fixed it properly.

I dunno. I'd probably race both of them again but it does take a lot of time and money and I think if I got the result I wanted in TABR I might not've pushed when I did in TCR (even though it came to nothing).

  • what's the ticket price to register for TCR?

  • Thanks hippy, that was interesting reading.

  • I don't know about 5kg heavier but I invited cap #23 for dinner upon his return and his appetite was rather impressive.

  • Hotel brekkie, double souvlakis, beer all day and icecream to fill any gap I wasn't already eating or drinking something in. It'll probably drop rapidly, I reckon it's a lot of salt intake, fluid retention along with no exercise for a few days.

  • Mobb Deep is definitely a shout. Think Currensy would just chill me out too much though.

  • The fixed rider Cap 136 Cesare Pedrini has finished.

  • £190 i think plus £100 tracker deposit.

  • Knees of steel! That looks like a tiny cog.

  • There's a considerably bigger one on the other side. :)

  • He's running 36 13 but swapped to a 23 when he got to the alps

    From here.

    And Cesare said:

Next time at least with a single speed, or flip flop, downhilling for two weeks killed me 😊

  • Legend.

  • Anisa Aubin #186 is within 25 miles of the finish. She isn't stopping by the looks of it, so will arrive in the middle of the night, any late night bars I can point her towards once I am allowed to offer outside support?

  • Lots but if no one is handing her a beer she'll probably just seek hotel room.

  • Got more snaps of the details on the camera if people are interested

  • frrt saying that Cap 186 Anisa Aubin has finished. Congratulations to her.
Cap 53 Wiesia Kuczaj has 700km to go.

  • 132 riders have now finished. Six of them yesterday. Five more have a very good chance of finishing today. The next two will almost certainly finish tomorrow.

And then there is the bunch of seven who we have been following. Yesterday was an interesting day for them.

#174 Hector Outeiral NunezHe rode an amazing 264 km yesterday in 11 hoursand has already ridden 47 km today. He has 671 km to go. He should finish either late on Saturday or at some stage on Sunday.

#224 Tina Nestoroska has also moved up the order from third to second but, in doing so overtook both Wiesia and Josie. A big 215 km in 21.5 hours yesterday and already 85 km today. She is around 18 km behind Hector.

Goran Wiesia and Josie were together yesterday eveing. It is always good to see riders having some company. It must be very lonely out there with no photographers going past, no one at CPs and so few other riders on the road.

#200 Goran Arsovski has had the better start of the three of them today. He has passed both Wiesia and Josie who were leading yesterday. Only 20 km behind Hector, he rode 203 km yesterday in 9.3 hours.

#53 Wiesia is only 2 km in arrears. 173 km yesterday in 10.4 hours of riding. She has already ridden 83 km today and has 687 km to go.

#165 Josie Jones leds the bunch yesterday moring but so close are the gaps that she is now sixth. She has 733 km to go. having ridden 239 yesterday but seemingly not having started yet today.

#188 Daragh Browne did 139 km yesterday in 10.5 hours. has passed CP4 and has 908 km to go to the end.

Finally #130 David Coulon is another 84 km back with 992 km to go. He rode 164 km in 10.7 hours yesterday but rode much of the night and has already ridden 116 km today. He is 45 km shy of CP4.

  • Did you get many flashes from drivers @skinny with the light so high?

No tape on the aerobars - pukes on cock.

  • David Coulon is on the parcours towards CP4.

  • cheers for these summaries @WornCleat

really enjoying the back end of the race. and full of admiration and respect for those still out there on the blacktop
