  • Seems like the TransCon is a pretty good ride to get some training miles ;)

  • Montreal? They'll know all about the French word 'Douche' then, won't they?

  • Le Wack!!

  • Cap 136. Cesare Pedrini (dtf 246km, riding fixed), Cap 186. Anisa Aubin (dtf 500km), Cap 53. Wiesia Kuczaj (dtf 1025km) are all still active riders, 17 days and 11 hours in. The final riders are approaching the CP4 marker with David Coulon in last place.

  • Go V!

  • I actually think my favourite thing about TCR is that it just keeps going on, until the last active rider has made it, without a cut-off point (although, of course, the CPs are only personed for a short time).

  • The race among the last seven riders on the road has been fairly interesting over the past few days with positions changing as riders put in extra efforts or have slower days. There is only 200 km between
#53 Wieisa and #130 David Coulon.

Overall, Wieisa is up to 154 out of 280 riders and David 161. If they both finish and their relative positions stay the same, Wiesia will finish in 140th posiiton and David in 146th. Last finisher is certainly not last place.

Wiesa is 69 km off CP4 and just over 100 km from the end. Her last five days have seen her ride 175/145/217/198/202 She is riding a scratch under 12 hours a day. At this pace she should finish in around six days - 24 days in total.

#224 Tina is 18 km behind her with five day stats of 189/164/191/220/190 and is riding, on average, just over 12 hours a day.

#174 Hector Outeiral Nunez is 25 km back and riding 193/178/201/198/242 in 10/11/10/11/12 hours each day respectively.

#200 Goran Arsovski was the leader of the bunch at one stage but is now 19 km behind Hector with 188/128/189/192/194 and averaging just over 10 hours a day.

#165 Josie Jones is 9 km back with 169/183/152/248/268 in 8/11/7/10/11 hours respectively. Some big pushes in the last couple of days, which if sustained, could see her moving up the order.

#188 Daragh Browne is 100 km back and unlikely to reach CP4 today. He has already ridden 41 km and has 239 to go. He had dropped to the last moving place behind David Coulon recently but has now regained his position with some strong rides. Three days ago, he appears to eiher have had issues or a rest (or both). His stats are 188/158/45/196/271 in 9/10/4/10/15

#130 David Coulon trails by 30 km with 268 km to go to CP4 and 1218 to the end. He has been putting in some heavy stints to reduce his earlier gap. His stats 182/97/251/199/212 in 11/7/15/11/13 including quite a bit of night riding. With the distance he still has to cover, it will probably take him another week or 25 days in total.

That said, all can change. One poor day will place a rider down the list. A few massive days could raise the last of these riders to the front. One thing that is sure is that all these riders are determined to finish and are riding in a manner that should best enable them to do so. 200 km a day ofver that terrain is awesome. 250 km in a day hugely tough. To do either after 17 or 18 days already on the road is the stuff of champions.

  • "staffed" would be a less virtue signalling gender neutral term.

  • Yep, defo enjoying still watching the dots... you lot still out there, you're so great.

Edit - you that have finished, and those who gave it your all, you're not half bad either

  • 'volunteered' would be even better. As that's what they are, not staff :)

  • Just to add to the "..in last place" point. By the end of tomorrow, all of the seven at the back, will have overtaken those that left the race for the courier event in Canada and will, whatever happens, finish ahead of them.

  • No comment. :)

  • I might ride the TCR next year, great preparation for my daily commute ;)

  • They scratched to get to Montreal?

  • Yup. In fairness they said they thought they'd finish in time to catch the flights they'd booked beforehand (from where I don't know). It caused a bit of a stir, but I'm not out there putting in a shift so I'll reserve judgment. Anyone competing can give them heaps.

  • I would love to do TCR, probably not solo though, as a pair.. someone to crack jokes with, sing awful songs on lonely roads to keep the wolves at bay, compete in snoring and farting competitions and generally enjoy the bantz.. 'twas the only way to survive fireflies and styrkeprøven.

V is on the parcours for CP4

  • Allez Wiesia!

  • No disrespect intended by 'last place' in my comment. Credit to everyone still out there.

  • Wiesia is a trooper, her instagram is great!

This is just as exciting as watching Skinny vs. Bjorn, allez the last seven!

  • Cap #186 Anisa has had a bout of sickness, spent a day in a Bulgarian shop on the floor, till the staff took her to somebody's home to sleep. She got back on the bike but wasn't really fit, and struggled all day yesterday. She had a bad night last night, but has been flying today, and is about to enter Macedonia.

  • has anyone ever done it on a tandem?
