Weird. They are still on the Racer list.

When does it start?
When do you fly out?
And how long are you expecting to take? Also, any major changes in setup since last year, and any last minute bike and kit panics you would like to share?

Sat June 2nd 6am Pacific something something time.
I'm flying out on the 30th I think, giving myself slightly less time before and after to save a bit of money.
Once again, I'm aiming for sub-20 days (took 22 last year) but basically I just want to finish knowing I've had a good race, unlike last year's which I felt was sub-par.
I'm riding the Tripster which was a warranty replacement for the 4S - not the best bike but it's built. Not using the deep front this time but most other kit (save for the frame) will be the same.

I don't think James and Nathan are besties.

I'm flying out on Wednesday too. 0925 Virgin flight to Seattle and then catching a ride to Astoria with a local rider on Thursday.
-
• #1285
I'm going to Portland and then racing from the airport to try and catch the last bus to Astoria.
This is almost certainly going to be futile but I hope I can reuse the ticket and/or find some other way to Astoria since I've already paid for accom. there. -

What travel ins are you using? ETA no longer cover races so that's kind of scuppered my plan to use them again.

Dogtag specifically list Transcontinental as their example of endurance cycling, so they're a safe bet. Annual Extreme+ cover was about £280. Winter sports adds about £30.

That's well spendy though. I guess they're cover the nutter end of the spectrum.
A 5s look at Pedalcover has me at ~£85 for anal multitrip and yellow jersey was about 150 I think, but I'd need to check what they each cover. -

Freudian slip?

• #1290
I use them for all the other stupid stuff I do as they have a sensible take on high altitude climbing and crashing helicopters into volcanoes. They might do single trip too.

No, I have the humour level of 10yo.

Woah, this is soon. Will attempt to rubberneck around Silverthorne, CO if the timing works. Over 30C here this week already.

Sounds like a hot edition and I’ve probably overdone my packing, bracing for the coldest stuff. Better safe than sorry though.
-
• #1295
I’m not too pushed for pack space so happy to carry it even if it’s never needed.
-
• #1296
Aye. If you need it and don’t have it you’ll be in trouble.
-
• #1297
I’ve learned some hard lessons over the past two years and a big one is that I suffer in the cold, so it’s not worth compromising there.

Interested to see a kit list and or photo grid. The temp range throughout the race must be huge so kit has to match that I guess.

I posted a kit grid here. It’s not absolutely everything but all that’s missing are smaller items. All the major stuff is there.

Half sleeping bag.. interesting. Looks well thought out and refined.
Dunno what you're talking about, I'm going to breeze through like it's a 25mi TT with a favourable wind and a spring in my step like usual...
