  • Are you back at work @hippy ?

  • "Work"

  • Ooff. I bet that's tougher than the TransAm.

  • I'm basically asleep, clearing down emails. Had a longish lunch with a couple of ciders to keep me alive and in an hour I'm fucking off to Paris. :)

Just got my contract renewed which was nice of them considering I've done fuck all for a month :)

  • I bet your post race chamois sniff was better though.

  • I burned my shorts at the monument. It was better for humankind.

  • Agreed, anything to exacerbate global warming will hasten our inevitable demise.

  • Yes and a very different texture - where as sudocreme is relatively silky bepanthen has the same viscosity as marmite.

    #goochburnanonymous

  • Not all gooch are created equal.

  • Mines pretty tough. But i do still suffer, I've got scars on my sitbones. Who doesn't! Ha

  • Rebecca Harrison finished yesterday in 28 days, 23 hours and 23 minutes, a smidgen under 150 miles a day for over four weeks. Really impressive.

There are 26 riders still stated to be active but many of these appear to have scratched or be phantom dots from riders are finished or scratched. I would estimate that there are around 12-14 still riding including Lanterne Rouge, Chinda David who is now out of the mountains and on the praries of Colorado. At 2100 miles, she is almost half way. It will be interesting to see if she finishes before @hippy starts the TCR.

  • Finally got on a bike today.
Didn't get any of the shocking, stabbing quad pains I normally do which was a nice change.
Hands are still a bit tingly. Right ankle is still not moving right. Everything else is pretty normal.

  • Yeah, more like TCR Mapping starts here. I totally can't be arsed working out a route.
I still need to get to the start too, I've not booked that yet.
As for riding... commutes only probably until I sort out the Kinesis (brake pads, chain, cassette, tyres, etc)

  • Is mal coming with you? We're going out in my van in Thursday if you want to come. But only space for one.

  • Nah, don't think so, she was just going to fly to Greece to meet me at the finish.

    You bought a van then?

  • Insert #hippyisfat gag of choice here.

  • By '1' he means 'bike'.

  • Yeah.
We'll go early afternoon on the Thursday if you want to come.

I'll have to check my payload capacity though, to confirm you're under it. ;)

  • I totally can't be arsed working out a route.

That's why I've got so many free evenings this year - not spending them all with three monitors looking at RWGPS, Strava heatmaps, streetview, etc - good luck guys!

  • All my evenings in July are booked for beer.

I might contract a team of cheap foreign workers to create a route for me.

  • Is it worth watching this weirdo's videos? I'm only interesting if he says horrid things about that hippy hippy guy from Nodnol...

  • There are a really good insight into what is going on. Clearly someone sitting at home in his bedroom, in his underpants, wishing he was smashing his gooch on the road. Probably beats playing World of Warcraft or whatever kids of that age do in front of computers.
