hang on, so a new code every time you want to log in?
-
• #228
So, now everytime that I want to log in do I need to go trough that endless process of waiting the email with a new code?
It's tiring...

If you're in the 1/3 of people who sign in with email... yes.
Once signed-in, you get a cookie good for 1 year.
So unless you are choosing to browse in a way that wipes your cookie constantly, this is 1 login per device per year.

I use safari, I allow cookies and I don't wipe anything, but the pain in the ass subsist.

Once a year. 30 seconds.

it's gonna be 3 days a week for me when I am back at work... I wipe every single last trace of my existance at the end of each day... If you think May is spying on us, try my boss.

Gif still applies.

I think there is a misunderstanding, I'm sure it's me.
The problem is:
I use Safari, I use the email login, and everytime that I login I need to wait for a number code sent by email, a new number. If use the previous doesn't work, and there is not any kind of sort of automate identification.

There is no misunderstanding. You understand perfectly.
To sign in using the email code mechanism, you are emailed a new code every time you login.
The code expires after 15 minutes.
To sign in, you have to receive a code. That is your temporary key to access the site.

So then the only choice is to change my forum email with the one that I use for Google and login with google?
-
• #237
If you find the email code so objectionable, yes, you have the choice to sign in with another email (via Google) and then let me know and I will swap the emails around so that the Google one accesses the account you prefer.

• #238
I got a code and logged in, no trouble. Purple jellybean on Windows Mac 4.89.
-
• #239
I sent you my google email... Also, can you please delete user67269, I have tried to login with Google and it opened a new account. Thanks.
-
• #240
Done.
Sign out and sign in again.
-
• #242
TBH some of them are quite good, I'd rather keep those to myself.
-
• #243
That's because you, I'm sure Will as well, have vassals mentality. While Velocio instead is more of single piece, maybe not spirited free like me, but still...
-
• #244
I love being judged by my internet persona. It's very confirming.
-
• #245
You're more of single piece? Good to know.
-
• #246
I curate my internet identity well :)

Public Service Announcement:
If your email provider is btinternet.com you REALLY need to consider getting a new email address.
They are appalling. All of my email delivery problems are because their servers cannot keep up. I've tried three providers (MailGun, Mandrill, SendGrid), and btinternet.com consistently are slow in delivering email.
It's them.
Not you, not me. It's btinternet.com
Go sign up for a Gmail account already. You won't regret it.

This new login method might actually mean I get more work done at work, is it good or bad? I already am the filter for shit and the buffer between our IT engineers and my fucking useless senior colleagues and boss. This forum helps me escape as I can look goddamn serious when reading and typing about bikes and cats and computers etc. All of which interesting, none of them work related...

HI, I can't log in to my account because the email address attached to it is long since dead.
My fault, acknowledged, but is there a way out of this?
Cheers.
-
• #250
Yes, PM me the account affected and let me look into it.
Moving to PM, so I can share some logs with you.
