Bodgealicious, looks like a pretty nice old tent peg.

And the green wire for even more support? Looks like a quick fix which might end up lasting forever

There is actually another level to it. The tubes of the rack are hollow and I used small steel rod inside them and the green wire to pull it together and align it. This side is now most probably more sturdy than the other unbroken one. If I keep on using it I might try to get it repaired. Interestingly enough I think the support stays made the the whole thing too stiff so it broke. A friend of mine on the same trip has the bagman without the extra stays and had no problems.

cambium saddles are pretty flexy, so you're probably correct.

the main probablem is the supported ones are made from alu, the free floating are steel. They don't make that version anymore because they all broke.

Sounds about right to me.

They now sell stays to convert normal bagman.

I've ordered a set of them just yesterday. Use a Super C and it gets a bit bouncy off road. Weirdly excited to get them....

If you leave them in running water they'll be chilled for you when you come back for them.

You've more self control than I, I suppose.

Every once in a while I need to restock. But I’m putting out a bunch of these on a 25 mile dirt road loop.

My caradice bagman broke while riding the South Downs Way. Provisionally fixed it with an old tent peg, gorilla tape and cable ties.
Bombproof.
