I cant believe i used to own such an obomination of a bike. That Chub hub was so dumb. I think the rear wheel weighed about 2KG on its own.
The late great Dave Creasey once refused to let me ride it at Herne Hill because he didnt believe that it wasnt an internal gear hub.

That bike was so cool at the time, I remember being jealous

I think the frame is still knocking round London somewhere!

was the saddle height determined by the kink in the thomson post?
-
• #206
probably.

Anyway, I've taken my justified abuse like a (storm) trooper for a couple of days, and I've also got my son to delete that favourite bar thing.....I'm ready to move on!
Another one into the mix.....what do we think of the specialized Seqouia? -
• #208
It looks like a pretty great OTP bike.
If I had the money for a top end Seqouia, personally I'd be looking for a custom build to meet my exact specifications, and I wonder if there might be a lot of people out there looking to do the same.
I hope it does well!

Not bad. A steel hybrid of the Diverge and Awol. There'll be plenty of people slapping bp gear on it with a tin cup hanging off the saddle bag, but if it gets people out n about, all the better. Not sure about the riser drops, but haven't ridden any so will hold out on a verdict.

Yup, seemed excellent.
Especially with BB30 chainset and threaded 68mm bortom bracket.
Trying to decide to go for the 105 one or the SRAM, latter is £700 more expensive (on trade).

Tin cup hanging off is very important, otherwise you're not doing it right.

Shit! Best have a rummage in the camping gear box. Think the kids have some cream ones with khaki text that reads " tent life ". They should be just about right.

Oooh, that is tough. The shimano one comes with the rs505's no? Starting to really grow on me. Think they're more comfortable than the higher end stuff.
Though I do prefer SRAM shifting. -
• #215
It also come with 11-36 and a 48/32 chainset that make more sense than the 52/36 on the Slate.
Wheel isn't the same tho, look like the SRAM one is higher ends, I have 650b thru axles wheel set that I can put on the Sequoia with 27.5 2.0 tyres so that's already to be used.

I'd be just looking at the bog standard one....is it a better bet than the croix 10?
Hmmm...decisions -

So my voucher has been approved, now I just need to decide which one to go for! My (relatively) LBS has a diverge in a 58 that I can try for size, which should be similar in geometry, and is also getting some CDF 30's in next week in different sizes, so I can sit on them and ring the bell!
I love the look of the CDF, but as the sequoia is a new model, there is a big draw to that too -

Was getting desperate for a focus mares ax 105 in that lovely blue but just about everyone is sold out, and the 2017 has red in the paintjob and it's gone straight to anti for me :(

New DA...with SI cranks? Wot?
-
• #225
Its Cannondale best cranks, putting DA on it, is like them admitting their crankset are not as good.
That and Shimano don't do BB30.
I've been on the RAL 6003 ting since 2008.
About to leave the club though, as the Ritchey is for sale (even though I havent got round to actually putting an ad up yet!), and the next bike is gonna be a different shade of green.
