I can confirm that the us and a is still here despite everything Trump. Am on vacation in Colorado, a strong democrat foothold, and people say nothing much has changed since the inauguration. Lots of people wearing big Hillary pins still.

Life goes on. We've got Muslim family in Vegas. They've had a few isolated incidents of stupidity since the election and are afraid that they wont be able to visit family and be able to return to their home but aside from a fear for what the future will bring nothing has changed.

I've spent time in Co, I found the Republicans to be the minority - but that's from a sample of my co-workers and cyclists I met out there.

I can imagine Trump pissing everyone else off until North Korea is his only choice for an ally.

^Cohen isn't liked by many on here, but I thought that was a good piece.

Apart from his risible comparison of the Republican party and the current Labour party. He's obsessed. Like someone who, no matter what the topic of conversation, always brings it back to how his bins are left in the road after they have been emptied.
And I think he credits Trump with too much influence. He's the vehicle, it's Bannon and the others that provide the policies. If Trump thought he could have won by being a liberal he would have stood as one.
But, yes, in general, he's right. Things are as bad as they can be. -

Trump Vows to ‘Destroy’ Law Banning Political Endorsements by Churches. So your local padré can:
Collect vast amounts of donations.
Avoid paying tax on donations
Avoid declaring who has donated
Campaign in politics using these donations
Endorse individual political candidates
This guarantees to delight about half the population and totally piss off the other half....roughly.
I guess that's democracy!

I wish Cohen spent more time engaged with the thesis of his own argument. The entire thing meanders a lot, self-indulgently trying to touch on every topic that may be vaguely relevant. The conclusion is an interesting one, but unfortunately undeveloped.

CA were being very aggressive on the PR, and I think quite a few hacks bought into the idea of some social data Svengali through a mixture of not asking tough enough questions and the story being kinda cool, in a James Bond villain sort of way. The LittleAtoms piece is probably closest to the truth IMHO.

Yes, it's the stuff of sci-fi fantasy, and all with seemingly horrifying dystopian consequences. As a journalist what's not to like :)
