Hmmm ... this is perhaps a bit naive. I can't really talk of the US situation but some people I've met involved with Greek or Italian communists groups are a bit spicy. From what I've seen the German groups (who actually call themselves antifascists) do sometimes plan violence.

Those I met in Italy are sometimes hardened by years of having real fascists and mafia closing their well-meaning, extremely useful and valuable shit down if it helps migrants etc. They've had openly fascist elected officials in power on and off. It's been very different in the UK.
