Will be super rad for sure!

Yea after plugging numbers on the trail calc i can see how that should be the case.
I felt the same effect on my cross bike actually. Id been running 45c front and 38c back, and after switching back to 38c front again it was like it was a new bike, with much more predictable and stable handling. Similar to the fork with a too long a-c. Maybe its just me that's picky, but there is definitely something in the handling that feels off in all these cases.
@vp1337 Yea man, thanks!

Any recommendations for getting the decals off the rims? They are painted on i think. Certainly not stickers.

In classic t0-ster fashion, im gonna go ahead and not finish my Ti adventure project right now, and instead work on one of the other many projects i have :D
My better half is turning 30 in a couple of weeks, so im prioritizing a present for her. She likes bikes and all, but mostly riding them and especially when its combined with camping and me/ friends. So instead of me slowly acquiring bits one at a time and trying to share my stoke with her about some little bike part, im just gonna present the finished bike all at once on her birthday. This way it will be more of a symbol for "check out all the cool adventures we'll have on this thing" instead of check out how rad this wheelset/headset/saddle is..
That being said, she continues to surprise me with the amount of bike knowledge she has absorbed through my blabbering, so dont worry, she does infact value things like a chris king headset and a brooks cambium saddle. (she's actually crazy about how good C17s works for her)
Anyhoo, i gave her a Velo Orange Piolet frameset a few months back. Its a size Small, and fits 26x2.75 tires, or 27.5x2.25. Coincidentally i can use all the components ive been buying for my Ti adv. build for her bike as well, so hopefully shes still under the impression that all the packages coming through the door these days is for my own build.. haha.
So here we go. #allthemounts
Uninstalled the CK headset from my frame, serviced it, and installed it on hers
27.5" wheelset from superstar (thanks @slothy acetone worked a charm) with 102 engagement points and 36mm wide rims and 2.1 thunderbutts. holy fuck wide rims blew my mind. Im currently trying to figure out how to rebuild all the wheels i own with wider rims..
Alpkit bars and brooks saddle ready to go. Not too happy with the thomson x4, seems too chunky for this bike somehow. Any recommendations for a slimmer mtb stem that'd fit this build better?
Components iv already got but not pictured
-rotor 110bcd mtb crankset
-sram x9 type 2 medium cage
-x5 trigger
-m396 brakes front and rearGear ive got but not pictured
-Velo Orange Mojave (nalgene sized bottle cage)

-Specialized pizza rack
-Porcelain rocket frame bag (this is from my parents)On its way in the mail
-sunrace 11-42 10speed cassette
-chainNeed to buy

Should've flipped the headset upside down for those extra likes on the 'gram!
But it looks really awesome!
What hubs are those? I searched all over the place for silver sealed bearing disc brake hubs to no avail. -
• #237
That look great! Can i be your girl friend aswell? it s almost my birthday aswell and the bike is the perfect size for me.
-
• #238
I really like syntace stems, and they can be had quite cheaply too used.
also kalloy uno on the bay; best value by a mile. -
• #239
Thought about it briefly.. but nahh ;)

If your looking for a white industries kinda polished look, these are a bit unsatisfying. I mean theyre shiny and silver, but there isnt as much clarity or depth, if that makes sense.
@Matita24 Thanks (for asking but ill pass ;) )

They were never going to stay that shiny anyway. I don't think I'll ever spend that much on hubs.
But the bike looks really good! -

Saddle on the other hand >>>>>>>>
Bike looks great tho.

I might come across as a total internet knob. But I've never bought from ebay or ali - does it work as well as buying from regular webshops?
-
• #245
This looks really nice so far, really like the wishbone seatstays
-
• #247
As long as you don't have to return it, and can live with the long waiting time, it's great.
-
• #249
Kalloy Uno is also extremely cheap on ebay and very light, stiff. Easily acetoned completely black
-
• #250
the uno has the matte finish doesnt it?
but 8 quid on planetx is hard to argue with
https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/STKAUNOR/kalloy-uno-alloy-stemedit: the ebay ones are the same price as the evans one i suggested (£20)
yes this also makes trail longer
but normally that should give a slower stable feeling going towards sluggishness... so a bit strange in your case with difficult nohands riding and all. Maybe its just different than what you are used to !
