  • Not TB14's but you get the idea. Pos too dark/modern? Saying that, the consistency of hubs and group pleases me muchly.

  • Shame about them being tubs - maybe go all black after all? would look great.

  • well the anodising will wear off ..

  • These are the wheels I'll be putting on my yellow/blue Leader AX

I think they might look ace on your build as well? But given you're going for a black groupset, I think these Ambrosio would be perfect and highlight the colors of the frame by contrast.

  • Ambrosio Nemesis is classy for sure... laced to silver Macks?

  • Set on TB14's although it seems 6800 instead Mack hubs can still look good...

  • @Heldring that's what I'm thinking, although clincher TB14's.

  • Made in Poland and then belgian colours?

  • Why not low profile carbon rims?

  • Good point, can't think of a real reason other than preferring the 'bite' of alu rims. Something to consider for future though.

  • Perfect, I love shallow black rims and they carry gumwalls very well - neither too retro nor too modern.

  • low profile UD carbon will look very close to shallow alu rims without the braking surface wearing colour off .. clear winner IMO .. with 6800 hubs and silver spokes.

  • Mavic ceramic OP surely

  • @drøn looking good! Are they 20mm deep rims, I think they'd need to be ultra shallow Nemesis-esque in profile.

@amey thinking about it silver hubs need to happen, not sure if it's an Italian thing but it just looks classy. Only risk is becoming too visually noisy with the frame.

  • Silver hubs would defo work with dark groupset .. like you i'd be also tempted to go full matchy on groupset and get 6800 hubs ;) the dark grey of hub matches the groupset ..

    Rims: http://www.light-bicycle.com/carbon-700C-25mm-wide-road-rim-clincher-35mm-deep-U-shape-tubeless-compatible-basalt-braking-surface.html

  • Good point, but why surely? Current lead time on Mack hubs is 12 weeks, so plenty of time to discuss, although probably should confirm number of spokes before it's too late. I'm thinking 32 holes front and rear like the Nemesis rims, if it's good enough for pros on Spring classics it should be good enough for me.

An unlikely comparison but I like that contrast between oversized tubes and shallow rims, TB14's are slightly shallower I think.

  • Wish my system six looked this cool

  • Wish I still had mine - the SuperSix never touched it.

  • Think you're confusing yourself by looking at that build, it's all silver, yours will be incomparable innit.

    All black wheels should happen.

  • @TM all black wheels isn't going to happen, sorry. Originally you were all for grey ano rims/silver spokes and silver hubs! Pretty set on Mack hubs and TB14's but, just to support the black tyres on silver rims with jazzy paint argument...

Looking at this Mecacycle the black hoods with white tape (& black stem) looks good. I've ordered white hoods and thinking pos OTT?

  • How are the Mack Road hubs for things like serviceability, longevity etc. Not heard any reports about them, only their track hubs

  • 7 days after buying the bars they arrived from Osaka along with a few more parts. Think I need a cup of tea and lie down after trying to avoid scratching them during the install.

  • This is going to be really nice. Lovely bars. Only thing I'm not sure of is the mixed finishing kit colour. Surely one colour would look more unified? Anyway, eager to see the next step!

  • Thanks. What makes you say mixed finishing kit colour, the stem?
