Tiny bit more progress. Trying to figure out which part to put on it. Used Red derailleurs or new Force? And need to sort a bracket for the front brake.

New force.
Which cranks? -
• #133
Rotor 3D with Stronglight CT2 chainring
-
• #134
Not the force cranks to match the force rear mech?
-
• #135
I don't have any Force cranks, unfortunately.

Spent the afternoon fettling with racks and mudguards for missXTs commuter.
The cheapo Tortec rack I bought was quite crooked and sat too high for my liking. Made some new holes and offset them a bit to compensate for the crookedness. Used the mudguards from my Arkose, but the fork crown on hers was a bit different, so had to bodge a mount. Came out useable.

Bought her some Ortlieb Sport Rollers as the Cyclist Federation had them at half price and just need to locate the front light and sort out the mounting and cabling of the lights.

I'm trying to build a bike like that out of my wife's Kona Dew. Nice work!

You rang?

Stop giving your females shit tyres guys!

She feels fast on them, they don't puncture and cost nothing. We can upgrade at a later point.

New thread idea for all-road bikes built for your wife or girlfriend: Gravelle bieks
I'm doing mine with flat bars and it's hard to find an OTP disc groupset for that.

So it is a hybrid really :-)
-
• #146
Yeah - I mean the standard Dew is a hybrid anyway. I don't really care for these microclassifications. Reminds me a bit of all the heavy metal sub-genres.

Which ones should I go for, when these are done? 11 km commute each way on asphalt.

Would quite like to see this thread actually. Not specifically gravel but a thread for current projects for bikes built for girlfriends. I wonder whether thereād be any trends develop and differences between bikes built for girls by guys and bikes built by girls for themselves.

You know the answer.
Kojaks hits the sweet spot between antipuncture and low rolling resistance in DK.
But honestly, a bike needs to feel fast and responsive and slow tyres kill that feeling.
Changing tyres after a flat isnt a big deal if you get good at it. And if you are scared of getting dirty hands it teaches you to keep your bike clean which means you get to inspect your bike which means it will be in better condition and therefore be faster. Giving your partner a bike is imo also about teaching how to maintain a bike and appreciate when it is fast and efficient -

I think some people (like my wife) just don't want to add "preventative bike maintenance" to their mental to-do list. The same way as I don't want to add "personal finance management" to mine.
So I DGAF about what bank account, investments, insurance or mortgage I have - I just do not care, even if it saves or makes me money. And she just wants a bike that works and is comfy. So we split the work :)
I lolled this looks like a grander scheme of my lounge. Glad its a recurring affliction round these parts. The ex hated my place. Some things just sit there due to the law of diminishing returns, or getting screwed over on postage. Nom. Syncros post is that a 27.2?...
