  • I don't know what the latest X-trans cameras are like but I had an X-E2 and really didn't like the waxy, over-smoothed skin in high ISO jpegs.

It’s barely noticeable with the larger sensors, which is good

  • Definitely serious, cheers!

  • My X-Pro 2 has lost its eyepiece- and googling isn’t showing any stock of the genuine Fuji part. Anyone know where I can get one?

  • Do you still have that 35mm?

  • Do you mean 23mm? Or are you referring to something that I'm not grasping?

  • 23mm! Yes.

  • Yes, I do.

  • Lot of white space in that conversation.

As to your question, seems to be a common problem as seen on dpreview, fredmiranda, fuji-x-forum et cetera. Hack or send it in to Fuji seem to be the only options.

  • Slightly OT, but what MicroSD card should I be looking at?
    I need a few for:
    Nintendo Switch
    GoPro
    Fake GoPro (well, alternative brand)
    DSLR (in a SD converter)
    Phone (extended storage)

I'm thinking 64gb for each will be sufficient.

Had some bad luck with "cheap' ones in the past, my old phone was very temperamental with certain brands.

  • Be careful. I think Switch needs something particular, and GoPro definitely does. GoPro need super super fast ones, like the sandisk extreme whatevers - I ended up with a few spare because of that. Phone/etc less of an issue.

  • Wow.

I'm very tempted in this, assuming it's still available?

How is focusing with the camera as all the lenses are manual?

  • Anyone given their Ricoh GRD I-IV sensor a clean before? Which instructions did you use? And any recommendations on tools? Assume it won't be the last time I clean it so might as well buy something that'll last a few services...

  • Is there anything in particular on the sensor that's showing on photos ? If not I wouldn't bother cleaning it.

  • Yeah, horrible dark blotches in skylines and other light areas when focused to infinity/using smallest aperture. To be fair it might not be the sensor. But I'm more likely to be able to clean that than the lens. :|

  • Have you got yourself a Giottos rocket blower and tried that first?

  • Yeah, horrible dark blotches in skylines and other light areas when focused to infinity/using smallest aperture. To be fair it might not be the sensor. But I'm more likely to be able to clean that than the lens. :|

Yeah, that sounds like something on the sensor. I had that and bought one of these
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenspen-SensorKlear-Angled-Sensor-Cleaning/dp/B001QUIEIS

Seemed to do the trick quite well with getting rid of some stubborn gunk.
Shoot at blank wall at f22 after to see if you've got rid of it.

Or alternatively, shoot film. Fresh sensor with every shot ;)

  • Very easy with focus peaking. I'm pricing up postage to Europe currently. Will keep you in mind.

  • Anyone bought from Japanese sellers on ebay before ?

After a Nikkor Auto-H 50mm f2 (non-AI). None of the usual UK shops seem to have one, and no UK ebay sellers either. Seems to be a fair few of varying quality being offered on ebay from Japan though.

  • A5100. Other than the EVF, what makes the A6000 a better choice?
And would either be bested by the GR II, even though I prefer something closer to 40-50 primes?

  • I so far love the A6000, and it has been the only EVF that I can stand. Well worth it after ditching the kit lens.

  • But if I don’t require the EVF would the A5100 suffice?

  • Trust me, you require it.

  • Ok thanks, never realized this requirement previously...

  • I borrowed a GorillaPod Hybrid (this one) for my 2 week Korea trip. I really loved it, used it hardcore and broke 2 legs so it's unusable now.
Should I now go for the GorillaPod 1K since it seems like the successor of the Hybrid or will it break as easily?
Also a Arca Swiss mount would be cool as my X-Pro2 has that but that's a different story.

  • I had poor luck with Gorillapod as well, though on the upside it worked really well until it didn't, and customer service sent me a replacement NQA when I emailed them about it.
So many joints made out of plastic seems like an open invitation to failure, now I look back on it.
