  • It'll be close

  • If Britain leaves the EU I will sue HMRC for paid taxes and NI contribution. I'll want an advance on my pension pot too.

  • Unless you actually have an extraordinary legal argument, I doubt any such lawsuit would be successful to any degree. For tax and NI you would need to prove unlawful collection and for the pension you would need to prove wilful intention not to make payment at the appropriate time.

  • So this has been floating about:

"ONS Net contribution in taxation is made by a single person with no dependents when earning £27,000"

It is time to sink most of NI, North of England into the fucking sea then? Or plain ballix?

  • Sinking NI and North of England, I had no idea it was an option, sounds like a plan though.

  • I'm working on the 'Stay' campaign propaganda leaflets at the moment.
The basic model is a leaflet design in one of three bold colours, Blue for Scottish, Red for English, Green for Welsh. The appropriate colour leaflet will be sent to that region.
They are rightly urging people to vote, informing them that it's neck and neck, 41% to 41%, saying every vote counts.
    All good and above board.
The bold square for 'Remain 41%' is coloured in the national colour of blue, red or green.
The bold square for 'Leave 41%' is coloured purple, with gold lettering.

    UKIP's brand colours.
Now, I'm for IN, but this kind of sly, subliminal, underhand propaganda is what is wrong with the whole campaign. It's been based on fear and threats, on both sides.
It boils my piss, it really does.

  • Yeah, for putting the "divided" back into "united" kingdom...

As far as I'm concerned the city of London (the financial center, not the people obv.) and at least half of Westminster can go >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Both ideas wouldn't work out well I'd say :p

  • That's it really. The architects of both campaigns are hunting votes regardless of the opinion behind them. There's misinformation and misrepresentation going on across the board because all they really want is for people to prop up their own political fantasies. What ever comes out of the referendum now is in no way going to be representative of a credible and informed opinion made by the the great British public. It debases the whole principle of a referendum.

  • To me the Scottish Referendum tells me we'll vote leave because, ostensibly, we're voting for the same thing.

Like @mi7rennie I voted "Yes" in the Scottish Referendum and shall be voting "Remain" for this one, with a large part of me hoping if we do leave we'll have another shot at Indy Ref 2.0. The amount of obfuscation/woolliness/out-and-out propoganda from the Brexit lot (perhaps due to being able to manipulate "the unknown") plays directly into the hands of folk who'll most likely vote "Leave" from an emotional viewpoint - squint bananas etc - and who are probably easily swayed by figures. I know from my own work on the Indy Ref (I worked for French TV interviewing voters a year before the vote and on the day itself) that the cult of personality was a huge factor in people voting "No." Nonetheless, it troubles me deeply that I'd ever be in agreement with Dave et al.

  • I reckon Dodgy Dave is naturally a Leave voter, but is forced to support Stay for political reasons.
If he could have his say he'd fill in the Channel Tunnel and burn all the ferries.

  • Yup, probably right. He and Boris will most likely arrive at their inaugural Bullingdon 'Beefa Boyz Bunga Bunga Brexit Bonanza on a chartered Chinook, with a plump Gloucestershire Old Spot suspended underneath for the, ah, catering.

  • Seen this today https://50million.uk/

Seems like a way to get more people on their mailing list as they definitely won't have to give away 50 million. The odds of getting them all right are crazy.

  • ^ agreed, never going to shell out 50 million

on a side note, any chance of a forum poll?

  • Only if the referendum votes in. If the referendum votes out, all forum Poles will be deported.

  • And foreign batteries too.

    And Chinese Carbon.

    ;)

  • Gut was always in, flirted with out for a bit but after some thorough research I'm definitely IN

At your age, you shouldn't really have to worry about pulling your gut in or letting it hang out. :)

  • It's nice if a politician for once doesn't mince words:

    http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/05/john-major-nhs-risk-brexit-pythons-johnson-and-gove

Not the exact quote, but close: 'People become more honest when they're no longer in government.' Edward Snowden repeated this, someone else's, remark recently when Eric Holder, the former US attorney general, said something about Snowden's situation.

  • 36 group games, 15 knockout games.

So assuming 3 possible results in each group game and only 2 results in a knockout game:-

    3^36 * 2^15 = 4,918,301,009,412,067,196,928 different possible combinations.

Some games may be easier to predict than others, but still there's fek all chance of anyone getting every one right.

There is one 50k guaranteed prize though for the last person standing. Possibly still worth it with a throwaway email address.

  • Today's facebook images are a little insensitive. But amazed at the propaganda.

Oh there is it, the source for the £27K.

So really, (read the whole article, sorry about torygraph link), there are too many non contributors that are native to the UK already...?
Does this not mean the system is already sorta broken/unbalanced, we should all pay more tax?

Is this why the tories are so keen on avoiding tax to prevent propping up the riff-raff? :P

  • interesting article on the rise of the far right/ nationalists and to a certain extent explains why this referendum is happening even though it will be a clusterfuck of epic proportions..

  • I'm wondering what the turn out will be.
Scottish independence had well over 80% (can't remember if it went over 90%)
General election had about 65% and that was abnormally high.

I am voting and encouraging everyone I know to vote, regardless of their views. Unfortunately I work with a load of people with opposing views to mine.

It's a pretty big leap to equate Boris Johnson with the neo-nazis of Scandinavia.

  • Maybe, but he's still a vile man who shouldn't be anywhere near important offices.

Thatcher came first, but Regan got the 'credit.' I wonder if it'll be the same with Johnson and Trump.

But it's ok to have the far-right in Scandinavia, eastern-Europe, Austria, possibly France in important offices of the EU?
