  • RLRR LRLL ?

    That one has me puzzled...

  • Paradiddle! Excellent.

  • This post is brought to you by Vic Firth.

BBC calling out Boris Johnson on his bs about goods checks.

See rhb's tweet link above for more details.

  • Paradiddle of politics
edit:should have read on in the thread.

  • What do you expect, we're London's famous metropolitan elite. Maybe if you went and bored on about Clarkson's essay collections in your local you would find more sympathy.

  • I've just ordered 'The Strange Death of Europe' (Murray's book).

Starting off by saying you'd bought a book ruined the credibility of the whole post I'm afraid.

    0/10, try harder.

  • Or you'll post me a bobble-hat?

  • The tragedy here, and it is a tragedy - albeit very, very small in scale - is that you bleat on about identity politics on the left whilst your entire identity has been manufactured by the Astro-turfing operations of various billionaires to be another little foot soldier in their global culture war.

You've just paid (great replacement bobble hats must be flying off the shelf) for one of their books to further reinforce your own programming, it's a self funding grift for the likes of Murray, Bannon etc.

You are enthusiastic cannon fodder, a willing victim, if you had any bollocks you'd be a suicide bomber.

As it is you are little more than a disposable munition that has been fired out of YouTube to help kill your own future health and happiness.

Here you are, on what - your fifth identity? To rant at the "woke", flecks of spittle coating your fingers as you vomit forth another stale attack line, part of a co-ordinated chorus of incels all jerking around on digital marionette strings.

  • Maybe believing evil Muslims are out to replace the population of Europe just is a common right-wing trope, you absolute melon.

    Jesus fucking tandem-cycling Christ.

  • their obsession with identity politics and Corbyn's inability to deal with antisemitism in the party.

The Labour Party is super vulnerable to criticisms of racism for a couple of reasons it’s good to understand. Firstly it’s funded by lots and lots of real humans. Directly, by small donors (politically engaged people, members) or indirectly via unions. The tories don’t have this problem, they’re funded very differently and have only a handful of members (many of whom aren’t even active/engaged). There will always be bad ideas and bigotry in any large mix of people. Secondly the party is actively anti-racist, because it’s concerned with systematic injustices generally. Racism is therefore exposed. Again, the tories don’t have this problem.

About Murray. I’ve read that book and found it quite compelling but it all comes from a position of western exceptionalism that felt uncomfortable and really needs justification. I’ve since read and watch him talk about areas I know a little more about ... and he’s clearly absolutely full of shit and (sadly) defaulting to standard bull$hit views people like Scruton and Dellingpole have been pushing for years on behalf of others, for cash.

  • is that you bleat on about identity politics

    Now this is identity politics:

  • The reviews are excellent.

    This one caught my eye.

He is deliberately misleading in his treatment of immigration, frequently acting as if most if not all immigrants are Muslims. In reality, most immigrants in Britain are from Eastern Europe, but Murray never mentions this. In fact, he can't because it would ruin the premise of his book - if he admitted that most immigrants are Europeans with the same culture, then obviously Europe is not dying. But if he claims that Eastern Europeans have a different culture that threatens British culture, well that ruins his premise that there is one European culture and we all share the same values

Perhaps bear it in mind when reading it and consider what European values are - as that is something that comes up a lot when people review the book.

  • Have you ever tried being nice to someone you don’t agree with?

It’s actually pretty effective if you’re interested in communication above ... whatever it is you’re doing here.

  • If Bastin isn't simply trolling I will eat my hat, so I'm not convinced attempts at a genuine dialogue would yield much there.

On a broader note, you are right of course. I should probably stay clear of the politics threads as I do struggle to take them seriously.

Sorry about the alt woke line. I do find a lot of what you write interesting, but also confounding due to the heterogeneity of your positions.

  • Are you Thom Barnett of Mamnick infamy?

Which I think seems to be the suggestion here.

  • I’m basically calling you a thick, uneducated, bigoted cunt. Simple enough? Do I need to explain some of the words I just used?

  • Then ask yourself if people like Murray stand up for immigrants and Muslims who fight for liberal values.

If all they do is push the line of "but immigration us destroying liberal values" but say f all about windrush and the increased hate crime after Brexit, cha...

  • No, you don’t disagree with me. You disagree with reality, morality, and the entire cohort of society who possess a vagina whom you have not roofied.

  • we will have to work out how to deal with non-integrated cultures, ghettos, anti-liberal movements and exploitation

You'd be surprised how many British migrant workers/expats (delete as appropriate) I've encountered living in Europe who predominantly mix with other Brits and complain about this sort of thing happening in the UK. The irony seems to be lost on them. I guess a gilded ghetto doesn't seem quite the same as the sort of ghetto the writer above was thinking about.

  • I think this thread (and the lack of decency within it) is a fine example.

For e.g. your white supremacist talking points, which strangely you don't seem at all bothered to be making. Almost as if you are an unashamed bigot who has an agenda to troll decent people.

  • Ok Boomer.

I'm not sure you understand how that's supposed to work.

What is your point in this thread? It's really unclear. What are your beliefs which you're trying to share with everyone?

  • What does this even mean?

It was quite elegantly expressed, I thought.

He was simply pointing out that your anti-identity politics persona is in itself an example of identity politics. Sam Harris tries the same trick and it's painfully transparent then too.
