  • It's going to be Mogg, and total destruction of the UK economy and Union.

  • That's the natural progression

  • TM going down a storm in Davos

The day before, President Emmanuel Macron of France had received rock star-style treatment from a packed crowd that waited nearly an hour for a chance just to get into the room where he was to speak. People who arrived a moment before Mrs. May’s speech found empty seats within a few rows of the stage.

  • I feel like this is the case. There's something rumbling around him.

  • She’ll be on twatter in a minute declaring it #fakenews

  • How Britain's views have changed – full Brexit poll results

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/ng-interactive/2018/jan/26/guardian-icm-brexit-poll-full-results?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard

North most remain part of England according to guardian poll.

  • I'm confused by the 4% of prospective UKIP voters who would vote remain.

  • It's in order to have sufficient forrins to be racist too.

  • Don't be silly, it's not racism only xenophobia and bigotry; Totally fine! ;)

Joking aside using the right words can matter as most EU furrins like me are white. At the same time, shit behaviour can't be excused by "I'm not racist but immigrants" :/

  • It's an odd map with Essex in the Midlands. Also it's not as though the chosen areas have equal populations.

  • Sunderland Nissan employees?

  • They're the only ones who are sorted in the case of a Brexit - aren't they currently underwritten by the govt?

  • Yep, didn't TMay write to Carlos Ghosn guaranteeing stuff we aren't allowed to see/know.

  • Yes she did - very early on in The Brexits. I'm surprised it's not been leaked, but then everything's moved on since then I guess

  • Has it moved on?
The EU27 continue to complain they still do not know the BrexitUK wants, only what it doesn't want.

  • Ah, no, it's not moved anywhere I guess:) the Nissan thing was a big deal for a short time, but we've moved on from then. In fact, I may be misremembering, but didn't even Nissan later say that they would still have to wait an see what happens, despite that letter...

  • The letter would have to guarantee state aid - which is illegal, so plenty of motivation to keep schtum about it.

  • I think it was a Newsnight item that showed all the Nissan Sunderland export production was sold at virtually cost price to Nissan Switzerland, moving any profit offshore, as far as the EU is concerned.
Also read that the 21 month implementation/transition period is 21 months to ensure BrexitUK does not have to implement the forthcoming EU27 anti-Tax haven legislation inspired by the Panama Papers.

  • Thanks for that. I lurk here a lot to get info as I find the whole phenomenon fascinating. Interesting/sad to see that poll confirm it's the young, progressive, educated and/or employed vs. the old, conservative, retired or unemployed.

  • A second referendum would be a lot closer than many remain voters think I suspect and the polling agrees. Places like this forum give the impression that second referendum would be a foregone conclusion for Remain but that's not the case.

  • Indeed. If someone was daft enough to fall for the various Brexit lies, then I find it extremely unlikely they would be capable of recognising that mistake and correcting it. Even voters who were previously not that sure are unlikely to change, as they will have rationalised and reinforced that decision.
Only real chance of overturning it comes from getting out the vote of all the people who didn't vote before, as they don't have any self-image issues to overcome when assessing the evidence.

  • The way to clinch a second referendum is to give the 3 million EU citizens who live here a meaningful vote on their future too.

    It won’t happen though.

  • The aged, retired kippy racists are dying at the rate of around 50,000 per month. They are being replaced by 18 year olds, who hopefully, are enthused by the GE2017 result and are registering to become 1st time voters.

  • Partially because of the chronic underfunding of the NHS which they voted for, what’s that Forrin word starting with S?

  • Let's hope so. But at what rate do people turn from liberal into conservative?
