• And there i thought i was just pishing in the wind at 20 psi with a problem . I was stood in a dockland area punctured and a bloke rode past completely blanking me ! What a twat as i pumped it back up.

  • some bally'd up scooter kids with the toolyo

Sadly (or fortunately, I guess depending on how much knife you need at the time) you don't get many of these in the Derbyshire hills.

  • Hopefully no one thinking about the solution to a problem that never existed will be watching.

  • Other than re taping (which I know is really the only answer but I neither time or tape) any tips for stopping air coming out of the valve hole? Had an inertube in before and hoping the sealant block it but no luck so far...

  • Have you tightened the valve nut as much as you can? Use a pair of pliers to get it really tight (and then remember to back it off a bit once you've got the tyre air tight).

  • You could try putting a patch over the valve hole and starting again.

  • Wrap with ptfe tape?

  • Stupid question - How long should my tyre hold air if tubeless? Tyres need inflating weekly at the moment.

  • I've had some that hold air for a week, some that hold air for way longer.

With those holding only for a week or so, I normally check the valves and sealant.

  • Mine usually lose 10-20 psi over a week

  • Can't find many mentions of Dynaplugs on here other than this but this seems to be a good place to ask - does anyone know if Dynaplugs are MIA? Had to use one today and no longer have any plugs, just went to stock up and seems ominously like they are discontinued across the board - anyone know?

Would be annoying as I have one of the devices for them and it's always worked well - assuming they're no longer on the scene, what's current agreed best option of insertion tool and plugs as Dyna are the only kind I've ever used... Cheers!

  • Just gone back to bacon strips for similar reasons. Using Ryder Slug Plug, which is very compact, light and works well.

    Strips available everywhere cheaply.

  • Had to pony up £17 for a pack of five on Amazon recently. Hoping it's just a temporary supply chain issue because I've found them to be really effective over the last few years.

  • Ta, thankfully alternatives don't seem too pricey so will have to get something as can't go out without any solution to hand... Annoying though!

  • Yep agreed - one place suggested they'd be restocking in early April, but no idea how genuine that is (wiggle still says it's restocking everything it's liquidating "soon" so don't really trust those automated lies much 😂)

  • April is the official line from the UK distributor according to my bike shop mate but given how they're out of stock absolutely everywhere I guess they've been unavailable for quite some time already

  • Fingers crossed then! 😬🤞🏼😁

  • I'm now convinced that despite the good ratings from some mechanics (including my own and claims made by YouTube ones), Muc-Off sealant is pants.

I wanted something that doesn't turn into boogers, is ammonia-free and works well at high pressures, but it seems that every other puncture it seals, the hole never fully clogs and so it leaks for life.

Case in point, I had a tiny cut/puncture that just keeps losing air. I'll start off at like 60psi (road, 30mm) but by the end of a 1-2hr ride, it's probably at 25psi.

This has happened to me before a few times.

What sealants are being touted as good right now?

  • OKO Off Road. Tried everything else as I occasionally think I need something bike specific, but always come back to diluted OKO tractor sealant. I’ve seen it seal road punctures at 64psi and it’s easy to clean if it does spray.

  • Wait, that's a car/tractor product? Or do you mean their bicycle versions?

  • Rubino tubeless any good?

  • Depends on pressure. My emtb tyres with inserts stay at around 20psi for weeks

  • I’ve only ever used Effetto Mariposa, been using it 5+ years.
But then I don’t run fragile tires in winter.

  • Solid, if unspectacular.
