• Could get a pair of G ones for that price. Not heard great things about compass and tubeless either

  • I know, but gumwall is calling

  • Another option is "fairweather for traveler", gumwall, 32c, £30 a pop on p-x. Not rated tubeless ready but I've been happy so far at around 40 psi. Rolls really nicely.

  • 28c limit in the frame though....I think @dancing james is right....function first.

  • SimWorks Vollumy?

  • Yesterday I dragged out my tubeless setup 29er for some tlc. It has been sat in the shed for a year untouched. Tyres completely flat with creases in the rubber from the negligence. I had zero expectations when I tried to pump them up but they dribbled some fluid, sealed, inflated and then held. I had no right to have that work, but it did.

  • csb

  • fairweather for traveler

Good shout. Now do I go algae (far right) or black for my ISEN....

  • Always black I guess. Maaaybe the brown one on the left for some frame colours, but not with the isen.

  • 50psi of pressure for g ones seem right?650b 1.5in for road riding.

  • I'd start about there, but I'm 100kg+. If you're lighter, you might want to experiment downwards.

  • Cheers,
Currently 85kg so will start here and adjust accordingly.

  • I've had a decent experience of Compass Bon Jons - supercomfy, fast and supple ride - a bit temperamental tubeless initially (they are officially tubeless rated to 90 psi - no chance) but stable now at about 50 psi and they look fantastic.

G Ones are better though - properly tubeless, supergrippy and confidence inspiring and quick rolling - probably a bit tougher and more versatile than the tanwalls - downside is that the soft tread may wear a bit fast.

I'm going to try the Fairweathers too on CGGs recommendation.

  • So for the up coming cobbles; I have Open Pave 27’s and Hutchinson Sector 28’s.
    Currently running clinchers.
Can’t decide what’s best to go with?
Also stupid newb question, once seated inflated etc when you need to inflate next what stops sealant coming out the valve and clogging the pump??

  • Gravity. Sealant is pretty liquid, just keep the valve away from 6 o'clock when adjusting pressure.

  • Ha so simple. Thanks

  • keep the valve away from 6 o'clock when adjusting pressure.

But keep away from 12 too, because a small amount of sealant can sit in the valve body and then blow into the core when you attach the pump. This tends to glue your valve shut by the next time you try to open it. 5 or 7 is probably ideal.

  • Cool and the Pave or Sectors decision...?

  • Well the Pave's aren't tubeless are they?

  • Paves will be grippier. Smaller though. More punctured too.

  • Wrong thread, but Pave with latex tubes for cobbles.

  • One of my cross wheels has been impossible to seal up, no matter what I tried, fresh tape, more sealent, bouncing etc. Just popped some Stan's race in and BAM! Sealed just like that. Wouldn't do it with normal stans but this stuff is amazing. I'm going to buy a big bottle it's so good.

  • Pave good on greasy cobbles, not so much where roads are flinty

  • Open Pave's they are just a good tyre even though they need tubes.
