Yes, a legacy junction that hasn't been updated for many years. It's certainly totally out of its time. RIP pedestrian. :(

Not sure whether to make an individual thread for this one but saw an e-scooter rider on the floor this morning on the Blackfriar's Road cycle lane near the front of The Hoxton. Not sure if there was a collision with a cyclist or pedestrian or anything. Looked to only be the one person on the floor with the e-scooter still next to them taking up the southbound side of the lanes. A couple of bikes on the floor as well but there were quite a few people around the person with some giving care and others on phones so assume they were just theirs. Was one of the pretty beefy looking e-scooters so might have been nasty.

Two men and a horse dead:
One would have assumed that a horse-and-trap would be a very visible vehicle. As usual, no more details are available, and no independent reporting seems to have taken place, just write-ups of a police release across various 'news' web-sites.

Words fail how unlucky you can be, and how cruelly other people can fail you.

So awful. The driver has already pleaded guilty to causing the death but incredible that the police put the victim in such a vulnerable situation. They should be in court too.

Range rover as well by the look of it, that just adds to the satisfaction.

Laughing gas finally being made illegal.

Will be interesting to see if that cuts down on the number of canisters you see dumped.

In the way that you don't smell weed because it is illegal...!

Don't think this has its own thread, but seems like causing three serious injuries is worth 225 hours of unpaid work (effectively a 2700 quid fine at living wage) and a temporary driving ban eh. https://road.cc/content/news/driver-who-crashed-group-ride-handed-community-order-304681

Perth Sheriff Court heard that Melissa McKelligott, aged 44 and from Edinburgh, was unable to explain how she had failed to stop at the sign before ploughing into the group of eight cyclists near the village of Rait, Perth & Kinross, on 27 July 2022.
I can explain it, she was probably using her phone but won't admit it.

Do start a thread for it if you want (this one was meant for non-cycling crashes). It's clearly significant and another one of those cases in which the punishment is derisory.
Two of the cyclists were given medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital in Perth, with one, Brian Barr, aged 54, subsequently requiring a hip replacement, with his other injuries including broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Another cyclist, 29-year-old Helen Wall, sustained injuries including several fractured vertebrae as a result of the collision. A third cyclist was also treated for less serious injuries.
Keep getting better, you three.

Damned, that's grim.

It sounds as if three of the victims are seriously injured.

Another one of those horrible crashes in which teenagers are only discovered in their crashed car later. Four victims.

I know that area well . Its not a place you can go fast with many pinch points and a stone wall that hugs the mountainside . Garreg is also a very secluded village and its a tragedy that could easily of been avoided.

More info about the crash. Awful details.

Another crash like the above, where someone went off the road, although here he was found in extremely lucky circumstances:

This looks to have been pretty serious as saw the air ambulance landing in the nearby sainsburys car park this morning.
Pedestrian killed by a lorry in Peckham this afternoon. Heard the Air ambulances go over my house. It's at the big junction of Peckham High Street and Peckham Hill Street. It's a horrendous crossing system with absolutely no thought for how pedestrians would want to use it.
