i'lll cut down on the fags and get bettering gearing for next year, thinking the alan cx with like a compact gruppo you had @peter_v

if you can get something with a 39 x 28 as smallest gear you'll probably be able to ride up all hills. the Gran Sport 'compact' chainset with 116BCD may be hard to find. a CX bike again yeah? I'd ditch the knobbly tyres for a set of 28mm road versions
