Yes, that moustached guy on the black Gazza will be me :-) @SimplexNL will be there too. would be niceto meet up, we're there from Friday morn until Monday eve.
So you're on a cross bike with a single ring? What distance are you planning to ride?

ooh nice! plenty of challenges on that route. I'm lucky to have found the 116 bcd Gran Sport chainset and some Miche rings so I can ride 50/35 x 14-28
maybe we can have a beer, guess we'll be watching Il Lombardia someplace on Saturday
-
• #31
beer for sure, no maybe!
just got an axle length issue, should be sorted tomorrow -
• #32
Dat chainset bruv! Fuuuck.
btw I'm on the hunt for a NDS Nuovo record strada crank 170, if you got anything let me know Jules!
Got lots of bb spindles if you're after a specific length / offset let me know...

• #33
Thanks, I'm in NL at the minute, was going to march from here, so maybe a bit awkward to get spindle, I may just ride without the inner chain guard , pissed the build has dragged tbh, wanted to get going on it, hopefully try and get a 100 ride in before the show

(putting in some extra comments because upload fails tripled my previous one ;-) - I'm going to try out the new medium route, did the 209 for the past 5 years and it's really great, but now I want something different. Less km's and about 3000m elevation, shouldn't be too easy...

'twas a great day out, nice and dry, ended up doing the 135 after having missed the sign for the new 'Chianti' route... caught up with @saarf a bit before Monte Sante Marie (always fun) and rode together to the finish, beers, brilliant.
@Josh89 how'd it go? got your special bottle of Ricasoli wine?
-
• #40
What a brilliant - If not brutal ride! I did the long one and got my bottle of plonk :-)
The white roads towards the end were tough on my 'vintage' tyres, I had 4 flats which cost me a bunch of time - so I didn't finish until 7
Saying that you don't really mind about flats tyres, time, or the battery acid pumping through your legs when you look at how stunning the countryside your riding through is.Love to do it again, however next time leave earlier, bring better tyres, drink more wine.

Nice to meet you @Josh89, sorry if I rambled on, I think the wine and the joint did it ;0)hooked up with some of the Dutch contingent, @SimplexNL , @peter_v and our friend who' s name escapes me
I caught up with old mate @peter_v on the ride and stacked it twice on the down hill, think my balls are bigger than my brain
In Como now, factory visit tomorrow!
Got some fucking cracking picture of @peter_v and me on that laser,
After I left @Josh89 I wandered drunkish back to the Cinelli/Columbus stand, and got a pick of the dude holding my bike
He said lets keep in touch, so I put my details in his phone, I was pretty punch drunk with that , and when I walked away I left my camera at their concession, he called me back for it, then I knocked a bin over at the food stall with my bike, fucking bulb I said to me self
Next day, at the first feed stop, whilst I was milling around, he called my name and came to me , cool guy, was doing the ride with an slr cam over his shoulder, will post pics soon, Pasta party with the sterk nederlands wielers was also a highlight"Concurse d' elegance' was good as well, made friends with two other uk entrants, "cool Bob " with his chrome Hetchins , and big Dave , who won with his gios, Bob also from se London , so 2 of us represented and one won, which I was happy with
They asked me and Dave for an "interview" on film, and we both Immediately swore to ' ham it up' , so not sure if it will be "on general release"@peter_v, my mate I introduced you to has been living in Melbourne , knows Andy fxo, says scene massive there
Hate posting on iPad, fucking pony -

Columbus / Cinelli guy was good, he must have had some fucking sway to be able to make the call there and then to let us ride that lazer tandem , I asked what it cost and he more or less said " you don't want to know"
i thanked him and he said " thank you for your passion"
When I walked back I said " I heard you are part of the Colombo family, he said " yes I am" so I said " would you mind me taking your pic with my bike as your family made the tubes '' , cool fucking Raoul , when I get back to barracks I will upload images from my Nikon -

Not that impressed tbh with the infrastructure of the actual shizzle, quite a bit of confusing info for some matters, and when I started out, I was riding on my own, I was giving " vai Colnago" shout outs to all and sundry , I gave one to an older guy in Colnago jersey and on a super sprint, and he took my wheel so we rode until it split in to the medio and longo (?) route, with him taking the later
Small fucking world, I had actually given him an appraisal on a frame a while back, he' s a 58 years young ex nuclear engineer, we said we'd keep in touch,
I found him after I left you crazy Dutch in the square at a bar, a little worse for wear, he' d had a series of punctures, ran out of tubes, and was at the side of the road, no cunt stopped to help or offer him a tube, and he only got back by getting a lift with the guys that close the roads up after the ride, piss poor lack of fellow rider support and lack of infrastructure support
When I did L'angou French retro ride, there were motor cycle outriders on the course with mechanics on the back -

hactually think of putting the laser pics in porn to fuck with the haters, got a great one of a 'baller', his pit bull and his green pogliaghi tandem, think it was his dad's though, baller was a nice fella too, we shouted each other when we past after

Gotta love them Italian riders, I was walking with a few up one hill , suddenly , one saw a photographer up the top and shouted 'camera' and they all mounted up and started riding, natch I followed suit

Rode the 115km route this year with @tapsnbath having ridden the 205 a couple of years ago and the 75kms a few times.
They didn't open the road for the 115/75 at Pianella until 8.30am.... lots of gravel sections at 25%+ which were unrideable but beautiful hills and views!
