Sounds delightful. Excited to see the outcome of this!

• #778
Yeah you are probably right.

I had my heart set on Horizons but now I'll be going for Compass Switchback Hills, what else are you changing about the touring setup?
I'm going for front rack with panniers, full frame bag with no weight out back, just some TT saddle bottle mounts.

I am trying to link to a photo of the topcross yes. I'll look into it later when I am on a pc.

Not much. Adding some eyelets to the forks but other than smaller wheels Nd mudguards nothing

Higher tpi count doesn't necessarily mean suppler/faster (although within a brands range it's a clue).

Any disc specific 36h rims anyone would care to recommend?
-
• #787
Just look it up, nice thing about smaller rims is that even thought they're massively overbuild, it's still not that heavy compared to a typical 700c touring rims.

shit...made a booboo, I run 26", but yeah, was really surprised at weight, massively less than on the website. built to dynamo now and with tyre, just a hair over a kg.

holy seatpost! That thing looks mean. What surfaces do you ride since you chose thunder burts?

amazing

That is fantastic!!!

I'm not too well versed on MTB treds so just popped these on as they looked like the least aggressive option that would still stick a bit if it gets sloppy. Shouldn't be too bad on road either by the looks of things.
A whole new thing to experiment with!

Looks great! I find thunder burts work well pretty much anywhere. Why did you change the fork? More clearance or just general bling?

I like the look of the Hunt Adventure Disc 650b wheelset, but it's not available until mid-Q1 next year, what's comparable?
-
• #796
A combination of those things.
As for wheels Tech XC hope pre-builts like these ones. CHEEEP!

Just ordered some Pacenti TL28 as they were cheap. My Genesis will be getting re-rimmed as an Xmas present to myself.
Currently clears 32c+gurards so can I assume I'll get a 42c on or shall I go 37c? -
• #798
I know our frames are different years but would be surprised if 42's were too tight, if you need/want to try my wheels do just shout. Oh and much excite etc...
-
• #799
Yes would love to try yours, I was going to wait to ask until you'd actually finished your bike though.
32 is annoyingly small these days so I'm sure 37 would be better

Someone managed 2.1 on their Genesis with mudguard, one of those stainless model.
700c 45mm mudguard fit in the Genesis originally, so 650b 42mm will.
Most tubeless tyres have lower TPI count to contain the sealant (leaky sidewalls, etc)
