So pleased with how this has turned out. It's not perfect but it rides so nicely.

Still on the lookout? I might be able to help

I'm pretty much sorted, see photo!
If you've got a near-dead 47mm my friend is after something and I could pay you to post it up though

Anyone needs tyres, I has Gravel King SK TLC 48-584 (few hundred km) for £50 posted and Gravel King 42-584 (<50km - doesn't say TLC on the sidewall but they did set up tubeless) for £40 posted

2.1 inch tube in a 1.7 inch tyre, certain death or completely fine? Already own the inner tubes and loathe to shell out for more
-
• #1859
Fine

Perfect. Much better than the other way around. Doesn’t stretch the tube as much and makes it more resistant to p***tures.

I currently have a 650b wheel set for my isen and have been using Schwalbe G-One speed tyres. I also have a pair of WTB resolute tyres (not yet used) for more offroad ventures.
I am assuming 650b G-Ones are a good wheelisize/tyre choice for road use.
Would WTB Horizons on 650b be a better offroad choice than a 700c wheel with a 35mm cyclo-x tyre?
Am considering making up a 2nd wheel set for the bike.

Why not use the resolutes you already own?
-
• #1864
That would mainly depends what you mean by "offroad" I suppose
Obviously the thinner 700c tyre will offer more grip in muddy conditions but The wider 650b will be comfier over gravel and dryer terrain. -

The bother of continually swapping tyres over.

• #1866
Ah I see. You wouldnt ride 35c road tyres on the 700c wheelset and then Resolutes on the 650b?
Or one wheelset with 650b Byways so you can ride on and offroad without changing tyres or wheels
-
• #1867
Byway too big for Isen

• #1868
But they’re the same size as horizons no?

Would you not want fat tyres off road and narrow-ish on road? Narrow is better for mud but if you get aggressive knobs it'll probably be fine
Edit: need more aggressive knobs? Just bring someone from the forum on a ride with you

no, 47mm as opposed to horizon at 42mm
-
• #1871
650b g-ones 42mm are great for the roads round me and am pretty keen to stick with that. roads here are shit, potholed, muddy and covered in farm detritus
so the question is 650b x 42mm but more knobbly or 700 x 35mm knobbly for off road duties
in MTB terms generally narrower wheels better for muddy conditions, but am wondering if 35mm is too narrow for general trail centre use

Horizons are 47 dude

doh - meant resolutes, my bad

Doesn't really matter. G-ones are better than Horizons. Full stop.
Nice rack bag, what is it?
Bike looks great fun
