  • My bike is at home till they work bike parking fuck up :(

    @Hulsroy ?

    SBC cycles might have something.

  • I could carry the rear wheel (front is 15x100 thru axle)

  • you fucking trendy twat, 9mm qr all the way

  • @dancing james

Mark from SBC said he would have a bike rolling on WTB Horizons soon when I bought my tires there.
I am working in Euston and you are welcome to come by on wednesday and try out my wheels.

  • you can also try mine weekdays in Kensington

  • This is basically my wheelset. Interested to hear how you get on with Tubeless! Which tyres will you be using?

  • Compass Babyshoe Pass Extra Light..... Going to use stans rim tape and valves

  • Compass Babyshoe Pass Extra Light

Just bought some of these, first impressions are really impressive quality and weight (399gm in the packaging).
I Had a quick go at fitting them with tubes on my crests last night but it wasn't easy, very tight fit, it was late and I knew something would go wrong so gave up. Will get round to it properly at the weekend

  • I don't think they are rated as tubeless-ready... Let us know how it goes!
    EDIT : didn't read correctly -_-

  • Looking for a 27.5 x 2.8-3.0 for all round off road/touring use. Might see some road miles too from time to time.
Wtb ranger or maxxis chronicle seems the obvious choice but suggestions from those with experience is much appreciated. Will be set up tubeless I'm sure.

  • Heard good opinions about the Vittoria Bomboloni

  • @at313

Cool! I found the standard Babyshoes very tight at first, and they really need working into the well of the rim to give you the slack to get them on. Tubeless tape is worth a go even if you're running tubes - it's much thinner which helps with fitting. But after a bit of use they'll be soft enough to mount without levers :)

  • i tried @spotters 650b wheels in the commuto x but they would not fit

lysnkey have informed me that my frame can take up to a 38mm tyre, the newer ones go up to 42mm

    much disappoint

  • It's amazing how much previously large tyres are now seen as small tyres. I was at a shop in Seattle and the owner had this sweeeet Seven with 32mm Stampede Pass's on very wide Enve rims and they looked tiny. I've become so used to massive tyres that everything looks tiny nowadays. It's crazy. Csb.

  • My next bike will have 32mm max tyre size

  • Retrogrouch. Troglodyte.

  • I am just restricted by the brakes

  • Running jokes getting boring now.

  • Brakes rubbing tyres is a retrograde problem.

  • Thanks for the tip, I have stans tape already I think I just need to give it my attention without feeling knackered after a 14hr shift at work. Last thing at night usually isn't the best time to start messing around with bike parts.

@Pish actually I'm using tubes as the bike is overseas for most of the year without me and my understanding is tubeless wheels need to be riden regularly so that negates any chance of tubeless. Hadn't considered whether Compass's can be riden tubeless or not.

On that subject if anyone can advise whether tubeless need regular use or not I'd be interested to hear, or any advice on storing a bike with tubeless tyres

  • In 2018 I'm gonna go back to 19c Kevlar clinchers at 120psi. They were such nice tyres...

  • Haha, cold-blooded

  • Ok, who in London has a 27.5+ rear wheel...2.8-3" tyre that I could literally just pop into the back of my English to assess the fit potential? :) xxx

  • I've become so used to massive tyres that everything looks tiny nowadays. It's crazy. Csb.

28mm look and feel like 23mm to me nowadays.
