I want to see if 650b wheels with 42mm tyres will fit in my frame, anyone up for meeting me and doing a quick rear wheel swap to see if it all fits? It's 135mm spacing and discs so would need similar.

Hello people, I have a 50 mile old 650b disc wheel set I would be interested in swapping for a 700 disc wheel set.
They are XLC - DT Swiss EVO 466d
Anyone interested?

Anyone else running horizons tubeless?
Mine are a bit sieve like on the side walls. They lose a fair bit of pressure over a week. Started on 45 down to 15 by Thursday. I topped up the sealant last week which seemed to work to slow it a tad.I just pumped them up to 100 to see if I can hear anything and they're leaking over loads of the little casting flash 'knobs' on the side walls. Have left them on their side overnight to see if that'll help with the sidewall situation, maybe they'll soak up sealant.

I have the same issue. It is getting better now. After two weeks. But I also do not ride the bike every day.
-
• #1082
Ive had mine fitted a couple of months now and mine go at least a couple of weeks between top ups. Lots of leaks the first couple of days though
-
• #1083
Are they designed for tubeless? Most people with this issue say it goes away eventually, but there are some compass tyres that it never properly works. Wouldnt you want tubes for easy puncture fixing for touring?
-
• #1084
Apparently tubeless for touring is the shizznit. So much that these guys even recommend tubeless over tubes. What does the hivemind think?

I'm a few weeks in and they're still leaking, a few days understand but this is silly now. Having left them at 100 last night they're about 10 this morning :( more sealant maybe?
@hulsroy which sealant did you use? I used the schwalbe 'made by stans' stuff.
@turkish yes they are. Maybe I'm just unlucky. If they stopped leaking I'd be confident for touring. I always carry a spare tube just incase of tears which are too big to seal

Did you guys notice a big improvement in the ride running them tubeless?
The weight of tubes this size scare me.
-
• #1088
I've had the same issue with mine so far and a customer I recommended them to.
I've bailed. On the other hand, the ultra light race schwalbe's I installed a year ago on the tourer have yet to puncture, require top up, and consistently retain pressure on non tubeless rims are still going strong.
I don't care how amazing these tyres are, I've jumped ship.
Now awaiting the gravel kings in Poo brown side wall. -

When are Gravel Kings coming in poo brown?

Does anyone have experience with the Maxxis Refuse and WTB Horizon?
Cursory glance suggests they're pretty similar. Roughly the same size, 60tpi, tubeless ready. Is there anything significant that I'm missing? Refuse is hard to ignore for £20 less.
-
• #1091
I had the refuse (still do) and swapped out for the horizons which are significantly lighter. Much prefer the horizons.
Mine only require pumping up every 2 weeks or so now they've been on a couple of months -
• #1092
Surely this is a warranty issue then??

Ffs - going to try new rim tape
-
• #1094
Did you bounce them after the initial seating? Take the wheel out, pump to 40psi and give them a good bounce on a concrete floor, rotate wheel as you go. Helps work the sealant along the bead.
-
• #1095
mine also needed soapy water so they seated evenly round the rim
-
• #1096
Will try, thanks

• #1097
That technique has never failed for me. My horizon's went up fine and have held air well since install (Gorilla tape & Stan's).
-
• #1098
That's reassuring, I used groilla tape too and I was doubling it.

April 10th give or take distributor wankery.
@Hulsroy Hotlines said they might have hit some bad batches in the rush to hit demand. Others are saying the carcass is too thin to really go tubeless. Everyone will dodge warranty responsibility if you don't follow their tubeless procedure down to the letter.
