You see some odd things.
I got called out at night to a spill on a level crossing (which we had closed) in SE London last year. When I got there the first thing I saw was an old lady in her nightgown running down the track being chased by the BTP and loads of men in orange. Apparently she's fairly well known in the local area for having a mooch about when railway works take place there.

Yeah I've heard of similar stories. I've not seen much really. Maybe a bit of wildlife, alive and dead. I was always to busy trying not to touch my face with all the human shit and piss on my gloves from the track.

Those wheels look great! Are those White Industries rear hubs noisy or quiet?
-

I don't know actually, this will my first experience of them after they were recommended. But as Matt recommended them, I'm guessing they're noisy.

I have to say that I notice a real difference in ped behavior when riding the Time Machine (noisy freewheel) vs. the Serotta (silent freewheel) - most people rely on their ears and don't look before stepping into the street/wandering across the street, with the noisy freewheel they know you are there at least.

Great to see matt stepping up his paint game!

I preferred it when you rode the Serotta on club runs so I cant hear you freewheeling behind me up Cudham.
Its true though, having been forced to ride my Ti MAMIL wagon about town I have noticed that the noisier freewheel is much like having a bell.

Nice! Is this going to be a proper train themed job? Looking forward to it. You don't see enough themed bikes.

that paint is spot on, this is gonna look lovely when it's finished. Also loving the railway talk, as a railwayman myself, night shifts are only fun if you don't have to do them too often

Haaa. So true. I used to do maybe 2 or 3 nights in a row then back to the office. Plenty.
