  • Just bought a Gabba on Wiggle with an extra £10 off courtesy of the "saver10" code (thanks @gillies !). Forgot to do it through the affiliate retailers thread though, which was a complete fail on my part.

  • Went out yesterday in my brand new not race fit Gabba with a merino base layer.

Absolutely perfect for approx 2 degrees.

    Feet were cold though.

  • Merino socks + winter boots + overshoes

Or if you don't want to shell out for winter boots

Merino socks + normal cycling shoes + thickest netprene overshoes you can find + extra pair of wind/water resistant overshoes over the top e.g. Velotoze

  • DeFeet Woolie Boolie work really well for me.

  • Agreed. I did a 7.5 hour ride in 2-3 degree weather on Wednesday with just a pair of Woolie Boolie socks on (no overshoes) and they kept my feet warm for it.

  • I had wollie boolies over a pair of condor merino socks. No overshoes though.

Overshoes have made the biggest difference out of everything I've tried so far, but for some reason it doesn't occur to me to wear them when I'm riding flat pedals.

  • I've had problems when wearing thicker socks with mind numbing foot pain. Thin socks feet are fine. I guess the shoes are too race fit.

  • cold creeps from underneath also so consider something like foil lined innersoles

  • I bought 2 Gabbas from Sigma during winter season 2015, both xxl. I'm 6'4" 90kg (atm). In hindsight I should have got them in xl, there is looseness at the back and sometime the wonderful tail bit catches on my saddle. One of them has the zip-off sleeves and is a bit warmer. I wear them with a DHB winter gilet which is great.

Winter footwear consists of 2 x socks the ones next to my skin are always merino and my overshoes are DHB again awesomeness from that brand.

And yes as per the poster above the cold tends to creep up from below I find.

  • The xl was super tight on me - 6'3"ish and 87kg. Too tight across the shoulders to be comfortable so I went xxl.

The length of the xl better though; agreed.

  • Wore my newly purchased Gabba 2 this morning. Eight degrees and a little windy.

I was surprised to find I was running too hot, even with just a base layer.

    Anyone else find the same?

  • Things are getting milder this week (thank God) so depending on your effort you may well be feeling nice and warm.

I'm staying with three layers until they change the clocks.

  • I ditched the Gabba 2 this morning for sportswool jersey with ls base layer underneath. Was way too warm in the Gabba last night.

  • Was very warm in my gabba this morning - almost time to put it away for the next couple of seasons.

  • Their a permanent fixture in Scotland.

  • So 5-10 degrees max for most people ?

    If so I shouldn't have bought 2.

  • Yes, same here. Wonder if the thinner (Perfetto?) would have got more wear? Still gr8 though.

  • Would need to clear a stone first.

By that time it would be the middle of summer!

  • Cheap gabbas/perfettos in the Evans sale, particularly women's versions:

  • I have to say I'm feeling the Gabba love tonight.

Seven degrees, a bit windy and light rain while pushing hard.

    Lovely, warm and really breathable.

    #perfect

  • just bought a short sleeve Perfetto from Westbrook for £67.50-sale price is £75 then EASTER10 will give you another bump off.

    Pretty bargainous imhop...

  • Sales are on at Sigma - should I buy a short sleeve Gabba or long sleeve perfetto? (And which, for any logic pedants out there)

  • SS Gabba also on sale at Wiggle, £90 there, how cheap is Sigma?

  • Get the convertible jacket, best of both.
